Classes Resume

It’s gonna be a busy week. Heck, I think it’s gonna be like that every week now. Today marks the commencement of our final semester. Attended the first lecture this morning – I can’t believe how much I actually missed attending lectures. It was also interesting to see how my coursemates have changed. Some had their hair permed. Some had theirs cut. Some others decided to permanently ‘ink’ their eyebrows. Heh.

Boyz II Men Live in Concert

Boyz II Men did not disappoint. In fact, they were awesome. We went for their Jan 26th show. They sang songs that everyone knew very well – including On Bended Knees, Water Runs Dry, Four Seasons of Loneliness, A Song for Mama, Doin’ Just Fine, I’ll Make Love to You and End of the Road. They also belted out a coupla tracks from their latest album The Remedy, such as Perfect Love Song and You Don’t Love Me.

Concert Weekend

I heard about Rain’s concert. Uhm, concerts, in fact. His Singapore concert tickets were among the most expensive ever sold on the island. He performed in Madison Square Garden in New York, last year. His world tour includes the US, Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam *gasp…*… Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. His popularity is simply out of this world (although I doubt that everyone understands his singing).

His concert this weekend has been widely publicised. The whole venue will sport some super high-tech stuff that would ‘take audience into a different dimension’ (or something like that – read that in the papers this morning). I kinda like him too. No, really. I mean he’s got the skills and the physique. His immense popularity has even made him one of Times’ 100 Most Influential Persons in the world. Pretty impressive, I’d say.

But given the choice of either a Boyz II Men’s concert ticket or Rain’s, without question – I’m all for Boyz II Men’s.

Boyz II Men. W00t~

Why? Because I understand English better than Korean. Heck, I only know “anyeonghasaoyeo” (screw spelling, ok?) and “sarangeyo”. I’ve been listening to Boyz II Men since the day I learnt how to add and subtract. I bought their CD’s, sang along with them and love their songs. I mean, if I’d chosen Rain’s concert I’d most probably be lost in his singing, and not to mention girls screaming away as he rips his clothes off.

So to those of you who’re ditching Boyz II Men’s concert for Rain’s, I’m sure you’ll be wowed nonetheless (regardless of your command of the Korean language). I’ll be in Genting enjoying Boyz II Men’s concert :). It’s a pity Michael left, though – Boyz II Men as I knew them, were made up of four great vocalists. My favourite song? On Bended Knees, of course.

Btw, just for the record, I’m straight as arrow. No doubt about that.

Update@2352hrs, Fri Jan 26th: Boyz II Men was awesome. The a capella intro of On Bended Knees really got the crowd all hyped up. It was the second song of the night! Shall update more after tomorrow. (They will be doing another show tomorrow night, same songs and venue).

Widening Narrowband.org

I should’ve known. The two-column layout wouldn’t stay for long. Even my old blogs ran on three-columns. And because I love this theme, I decided to modify it. Obviously it’s much easier to modify an existing theme compared to creating a new one from scratch.

McDonald’s Prosperity Burger

I absolutely hate it when I speak in English only to be replied in BM. Rudely, at that. Just because she couldn’t understand English well, she made a face and it all seemed as if I was at fault. McDonald’s should fire all workers who aren’t competent in English. Anyway, I was there for only one reason.

How to Create a CSS Photo Gallery

This is based on the article on Dynamic Drive. I applied the technique in one of my posts early this month. That single post contained 32 images. To display all of them within a post would take up a lot of space, so the CSS Photo Gallery is the perfect solution.

And as the Internship Draws to an End…

According to the university’s planner, we should all be in our final week of internship. I’ve been busy (hence the blog inactivity, guys). But I’m enjoying every passing moment. While most of us will bid our colleagues goodbye at the end of this week, Jin and I will be extending our employment for another week. Heh. Goes to show how much we love working here. No kidding. Well, for me at least. It doesn’t even feel like I’m working – right from the very first day. I still remember we went to KFC for lunch that day. Oh, in formal attire, too. Our lunch hour lasted long enough for me to go home and change into casual wear and then return to KFC again. Well, at least it felt that way.

1,000,000 Free Tickets – It’s a Steal!

Since yesterday evening, hundreds (if not thousands) of people have logged on to AirAsia‘s website to book their free seats. My friend informed me of the news shortly after we ended our meeting at 6:30pm yesterday. We went to AirAsia’s site to take a look and to our delight, we were greeted by countless “0.00″s on the page (hehe). But the thing is, we had no plans to go for any trip, at that time.

Most of us are making reservations just for the sake of ‘getting the free seats’. Freeloading at its best, that is. Despite the fact that other charges still apply, many are contented with the scrapping of only airfares. We talked about going for a trip last night on MSN, but found it quite difficult to decide on a travel period that best suits everybody – within a short time. This itself is a big headache. It seems like the trip would need to be planned in a haste.

As hundreds of free seats are being snapped up with each passing hour, hopes of getting our ideal travel period and destination is quickly fading. One of us even suggested that our company trip be ‘down-scaled’ to somewhere nearer – somewhere that doesn’t require air travel. That’s not a bad idea at all, actually. But the thought of forgoing the free seats………

Gah!

Barbeques Galore!

We had a BBQ-cum-steamboat gathering at Jimmy’s place on new year’s eve. It was an all-guys kinda thing before Toong’s babe came along. We rarely had meet-ups since we left school, so that night was really nice. Yeah we’re all unhappening peeps – tried to shun every single crowded place we knew on new year’s eve. But we later decided that we couldn’t miss the fireworks, hehe. We deliberated over this for a while, and then made our way to Sunway Pyramid. And no, we didn’t go inside where the party’s at (you need to pay!). We did it the el cheapo way – watched the fireworks from the outside. Hell yeah.

Grounded by AirAsia

I just got a call from my parents in Langkawi. At the time of the call, they were supposed to have boarded the plane. So when my phone rang, I thought, “Aren’t they supposed to be on the plane right now?”.

Apparently the engine (or engines – it was unclear as the call was brief) could not start. All passengers were stranded and things were (and still are – as I’m writing this, I believe) in a mess. Mom said that AirAsia would probably put them on a new flight if that particular plane couldn’t take off. Whatever it is, their departure is delayed indefinitely.

The irony is that, in just less than 10 minutes before I received mom’s call, I was telling sis about how we could fly on FAX and go yamcha in London, as suggested by Papimami and yit4s. Ho-humm…

(AirAsia X is a sub. of FAX, which, again, is a sub. of AirAsia and if you’ve seen today’s paper, you’d know that they’re chanting “Now Everyone Can Fly Extra-long”.)

Probably, for AirAsia, they could use “Now Everyone Can FlyWait Extra-long”.
