Photo Gallery Created
I created a new section called ‘Photo Gallery‘. It’s simply a place where I share ’some’ photos (my first one has about 400 photos, hehe). Currently there’s only one album - You’ll need to have Macromedia Flash installed to view the photos. There were at least 1,000 photos taken during that holiday trip, so I filtered away more than half of them. It was easy - as I only retained (mostly) scenery shots.
I don’t want to have my friends coming up to me and say “Dave! Why you put that pic?? That angle very bad lar!”. It always happens :p. I’ve been careful this time (at least I tried to filter properly, k!). All photos in the album were taken using my friends’ cameras - Mine was dunked into saltwater, remember? I replaced the camera only several months later (repair costs too high!).
Didn’t have the time to write a caption for every single photo. I’ll try to write captions in future additions, though.

I installed Simpleviewer with Flickrview and it works well. But what I wanted was to create sub album and didn’t get around to read how to do it yet. Now that I look at yours, I think what I need was to instal them into different folder and link it from my pages, huh?
BTW, the link above is broken.
Yeah that’s what I’ll be doing - put them in different folders and then link them. I wanted to edit the flash (with Macromedia Flash MX 2004), but unfortunately the zip file does not include the source-file (*.fla extension). I agree that it’ll look somewhat ’separated’ from my main blog a little bit - as it is an independent page. But.. that’s okay (set target _blank lor).
Oh thanks for pointing out the boo-boo. Gee. I changed the post-slug from ‘photo-gallery’ to ‘gallery’ but mana tau it conflicted with the folder in which I stored the flash’s index.html. Link now repaired!
nice one.. let me humbly point out the most touching pic (at least it touched my somewhere).. the one with 2 lil’ kid, with the boy holding up his middle finger (i bet my guts he didn’t do that intentionally, it’s just candid).. 1 word, innocent..
Haha, no it wasn’t the middle finger he was showing. He was asking for money, together with the sister. That was on the Tonle Sap lake, where most of the people there were Vietnamese. They’d come right up next to your boat and ask for money. During our entire trip, everywhere we went there were children asking for money.
That boy was signalling ‘one’, as if to say “just a dollar” or something. It was a moving sight, indeeed.
I really like the photopage…..damn..pics look good too. Mcm boleh masuk travel mag k! Did you have to resize it?
The photo gallery is cool. I like it. :)
*flattered flattered*
Yes I resized the pics. Otherwise they’d be too big for our monitors :p You can ‘force’ them to appear smaller but your images will turn out sucky (rugged edges). Besides, the loading time would be too long cus the photos’ filesize are so big (each photo at least 2,000kb - that’s 2Meg/photo!).
I use photoshop to batch-edit (edit them in bulk - entire folder at one go) the photos, and shrink them to web-friendly sizes (yet unnoticeable to human eye). So they appear in just the right dimensions and loading time is fine for most internet speeds. (Each jpg around 80-120kb). Need to generate thumbnail also leh.. use photoshop batch-processing as well.
Thank you, Che-cheh! Glad you like it - more albums to come!
