The Amazing Vista Walk Hunt
Posted by narrowband - 04/02/07 at 02:02:07 amIt wasn’t that amazing. Probably the only amazing thing was the way some of the answers were explained. Ok, ok, I didn’t win. You could tell, eh? (Darn – goes to show I’m not really much of a treasure hunt-kinda dude)

There were many people. So many that there was barely any space to walk. At one point I even wondered if the organizers could handle the crowd.

There were a total of 188 teams, and each team was made up of either 3 or 4 members. Most of them were young. Maybe around 20. Waitaminute. Wouldn’t that include me too?

But yeah I guess most of the older folks decided not to join such a sweat-inducing, leg-aching, and brain-grinding activity.

If you don’t know why it was brain-grinding, the picture above could probably give you an idea. BM helped made things more ‘interesting’!

Nevertheless, we were all excited and ready to win the two copies of Bill Gates-autographed Windows Vista Ultimate. No, really. We wanted them so badly.

The hunt wasn’t at all fun. It was chaotic, hot, messy and dangerous. Surprisingly the organizers (Time Out Solutions) never mentioned a word on safety. Then again, it’s not like that’d change anything.

Well, that’s the winner. Lucky dude. His team went home with, among others (a lot, at that!), two copies of autographed Windows Vista Ultimate edition.
So how did we do? Not too bad, but not good enough! Some of the answers were not written in full, some others weren’t accurate although we got the gist of it. Grr. One thing that still baffles me is the answer to one of the questions. A small portion of a logo was shown, and we couldn’t guess which company it belonged to. Turned out that the answer was Acer but I can’t see why!

I guess there’s plenty of room for them to improve. Personally I’m disappointed with the so-called hunt kit.

If you win, what will you say about the hunt? :P Haha! Better luck next time.

hcfoo – The only thing useful in that kit was the bottle of drinking water. Whatever they put in that kit could’ve served as souvenir for those who got nothing out of the hunt. Like me. *sobs*.
The shirt was not that bad, but they ran out of XL. Doggone it.
Jason – I would probably still comment on the organizing of the entire hunt. Heh. Anyway we were nowhere near the top teams. We lacked a ‘cryptic mind’. Haha.

the question paper return was return to them.
but i remembered one question sounds like
Toyota, Chi Hua Hua gives a direction to a accommodation.
Comment by bernard — February 4, 2007 #
Oh Cincau, unfortunately I don’t have a pic of that :(.
The Toyota, Chi Hua Hua one was Hotel Cardogan.
“Toyota” = Car
“Chi Hua Hua” = Dog
“Direction” = A South, A North, A West, An East… in this case it was “A North”, and you take its initials so it becomes “AN”.
When I saw that I was like WTF-ing in disbelief. But the thing is some people could answer it. I rest my case.
Thanks Bernard for the input.

The cardogan question is considered easy by the normal standard. The winners are pros. IF you are interested to learn more about treasure hunts and questions they normally asked, go to http://michaelpang.com.my/home/qabank.php

Che-cheh – yea loh. But the answers were around the area – It’s also a matter of being observant, and analytical!
Hcfoo – Thanks for the input. They deserved it indeed…
Papi – Geeks? U should’ve seen the rap performance that night – everyone (geeks, or not) was so charged up. Haha.
It wasn’t exactly a bad thing to miss the event… I didn’t win the vista also~ ;p
