VMY2007: The Eye on Malaysia

Actually, I had expected the ferris wheel to be larger. But then again, I wouldn’t want the government to spend too much money on this alone either. Anyway, since it was widely publicized, we decided to pay The Eye on Malaysia a visit.

The weather was beautiful. I mean it was just perfect for an evening outing at the Titiwangsa Lake Gardens. Just look at the blue, blue sky!

We couldn’t resist going for a ride. It costs RM15 per adult, with some discount for senior citizens as well as the disabled. We bought the ‘Private Gondola’ package for RM100, where we could have the whole gondola to ourselves. We held the ticket for several hours and returned later that night for a night ride.

We planned to catch the fireworks display during our ride, but we couldn’t make it in time for that. Shortly after arriving, the “International WaterSky Spectacular” show was already about to begin. The show featured, among others, images on water screens, laser beam displays and water ski performances.

And then came the fireworks display. It wasn’t really spectacular compared to some others that I had seen, but fireworks are always nice to watch anyway. At that time, the ferris wheel wasn’t moving so I guess they paused the wheel to make way for the show.

We held on to our ticket and began walking towards the ferris wheel. The place was, of course, pretty crowded. Many shutterbugs thronged here with their tripods too.

The fireworks display, I heard, is only till the end of February. And there is no show on weekdays. So if you plan to catch the show, better go while you still can :). (For more fireworks photos from the Eye on Malaysia, check out Smashpop.net)

Fortunately for us, we bought our tickets early. Because a huge crowd was seen queuing up to get theirs. The guards said we did not need to queue up again.

That’s our neighbour. With the whole gondola to ourselves, needless to say, we camwhored like nobody’s business. The people in there must have noticed our camera flashes every couple of seconds once.

We were in there for about five cycles, I think. During the first 3 cycles we wished that we could sit longer and enjoy the ride. But after the 4th cycle it started to get boring. Heh.

The KLCC Twin Towers, and some light reflections on the Titiwangsa Lake. The KL skyline at night is never complete without the KLCC Twin Towers.

Look at the people at the Titiwangsa Lake! They appear so tiny from the highest point of the ferris wheel.

The ride was about 15 minutes long (although the guards officially say it should be 12 minutes). The gondola had doors on both sides; one for entry and the other for exit.

Up goes our gondola. There was also a VIP gondola. It costs RM200, twice the price of Private gondola. How is it different from the other gondolas? Snacks and drinks, as well as some other ‘special differences’ that I wasn’t interested in.

All in all I enjoyed the ride. It was even better to have a great company of friends on board!

  11. Could you tel me which is the nearest train station from here?
I would like to go there. Thanks.

  12. The nearest LRT station is the Titiwangsa LRT Station. Even so, the walking distance to the Titiwangsa Lake Gardens is about 30 minutes.

You can either take a cab, or RapidKL bus #116 (from the Titiwangsa LRT Station) should you prefer not to walk.
