E-Nite 2007

The E-Nite is an annual event organized by the Engineering Society. It has always been one of the most anticipated and celebrated events of the year. Attendees are usually students from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), although it is open to all.

The pictures here are mostly group-pictures. The rest are available for private-viewing (you know the deal with ladies – some might not like the attention!). Details are at the end of this entry.

The Day I Registered to be a Voter

The general elections is around the corner. What better way to welcome it than registering to be a voter? I’m 23 this year, and yes that’s a little late considering the legal age to do it is 21. But it’s all good – not too late to do it now anyway. To those of you who haven’t registered yourselves, do it now and exercise your rights! Here’s how it went for me:

- Walked into a post office.

- Got a number.

- At the counter, presented my MyKad.

- Observed the computer screen as the clerk keyed in my particulars. Checked for mistakes.

- A set of carbon-copies of that form was printed out and I signed on it. I kept a copy.

- Walk out of post office.

It took about 10 minutes, including the waiting time. A middle-aged lady was seen registering herself at the counter next to mine too.

From New York to Paris, the Google Way

I received a set of instructions from Sat just moments ago. It went like this:

  • Go to google.com
  • Click on Maps
  • Click on “Get directions”
  • From New York
  • To Paris
  • Read line # 23.

Pretty brief. I followed them. And after that I almost choked on my Milo.

Quote of the Day

I need to hand in a report in both soft and hard copies. Email attachments are not accepted (welcome to my 21st century, aspiring “world-class” university). Instead of using a CD (where much of the 700MB capacity will be wasted), the good ol’ floppy came to mind. I went to my sister (I consider her ‘quite’ net-savvy; she’s 14) and asked if she has a floppy disk.

Me: Do you have a floppy disk?
Sis: What is a floppy disk?

And I swear she meant it. It seems like floppy disks are steadily making their way into museums.

Outdoor Photography

I’ve been out and about – and I managed to immortalize some of my sightings. I initially planned to published this at the end of this week, but I have some interesting pictures I can’t wait to show here. I came across a peculiar (well, to me at least) tree with interesting thorns:
