The Day I Bought a Ferrari F430
Posted by narrowband - 15/05/07 at 01:05:57 amYes, I bought a brand-new Ferrari F430 last night, complete with a 6-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) and packed with 490 horses under the hood. Or at least that’s what I believe it has.

Yes, the saleswoman decided to throw in a custom-made ‘narrowband’ plate for me too.

The car, last time I heard, can leap from standstill to 100km/h in less than 4 seconds.

The huge rear diffuser is absolutely sexy. And those chrome quad-pipes… oh man, they’re so visually stimulating I could cry.

But I think they forgot to bundle in my side mirrors, which of course, is a major problem especially when switching lanes.

That’s the famous Enzo tail. I couldn’t resist taking the car for a spin.

No, it didn’t even reach 20km/h.

Now, seriously, when I brought the car back home, sis said, “Still small ah?”.

Well, at RM7.99 (provided you’ve filled at least RM40 of Shell Super – the green one lah), it’s the only Ferrari I could afford to buy. For now.
Have you bought yours?

3 cars to go for me. i have been pouring vpower just to get those car at a cheaper price. since vpower will enable me to buy the car 4 bucks cheaper than i thought might as well try vpower.
to tell you the truth, i haven’t found much difference between the normal petrol and vpower -_-”

Hahaha… my dad is collecting the Ferrari cars too. He’s been asking me to get them for him, but I don’t fill up RM40 of petrol each time so he has to get it himself. *grin*

Cincau – Ooo nice eh? I don’t know which car I should get next :-/
Angel – LOL.. ok ok.. Buy liao only talk la.. ok? Hahaha..
Sat – Wa lau eh, die-hard man.. You’d do that huh? Hehe, actually I switched from Petronas to Shell for this :p Immediately after my fuel was empty I was grinning my way to the nearest Shell kiosk Hahaha..! (I was using Shell – few months back – then switched to Petronas, cuz mom said there was some contest… – now I’m back using Shell, haha)
Rinnah – Why he ask you to get for him ah? Ei yesterday when I bought mine hor, there was a middle-aged man who was also buying – I thought it looked abit funny :p He also accidentally dropped it on the floor near the cashier.
Jian – Adorable?! How’s that? Yes you can finger the car if you want to. But you need to unscrew the car first from the underneath.. Hmm..
Bkworm – A-ha..! It was Photoshop ler ;) Gotcha there huh.. ;p

One of my relatives has the big fast one and it is amazing. I only got to touch it and get on the driver’s seat but never drove it.

wuah nice! can i borrow it for the weekend sometimes?
Comment by Wuching — May 16, 2007 #
Yay David, welcome to the F1 car collection club. :D:D
Wanna have a car race? :P
The car models look a lot nicer in the posters and in reality. I didn’t even notice that there wasn’t any side mirrors until u said it. Anyway, less than RM8 for a miniature Ferrari is a steal.
Comment by Lingster — May 16, 2007 #
Sweewon – Wah your mom also syok this thing hor…
Adam – I wouldn’t dare to drive it either if it’s not mine, lol… esp a relative’s one!
Wuching – Can can.. I have installed a taxi-o-meter..
Lingster – Weh mine hor, got two speed one leh – Starting dat time will be slow, then after a while it accelerates itself faster… Dem kewlz ;p Urs too? If not, kenot race lor – I sure lose :(
Posters… Of coz lerr… -_-”

I’ve seen this on the tv ad. Haha, nice car. Cool.
Is that(photo 5,6,7) panning shot ?
Comment by niC niC — May 16, 2007 #
Bro, yes!! Finally someone noticed that :p It wasn’t easy… trial and error there. I think I captured more than 30 shots and only the three passed my strict ‘Sirim’ benchmark. LOL.
I did it the no-brainer way, manually moving the camera to match the speed of the car. Cool effect eh? :p
Comment by narrowband — May 16, 2007 #
you’ve got that ‘wind’ feel with your panning shots :) it’s hard not to notice ;)

Where to buy? My son loves Ferrari. :)
Give him this for his birthday.
Comment by eastcoastlife — May 17, 2007 #
Hahaha… my Dad wants to get the whole set of six cars faster mah. If I buy and he buys then we can get 3 models in a week instead of 1. He’s now down to the last model so the collection should be complete by this weekend. LOL!
Comment by rinnah — May 17, 2007 #
narrowband: get the f1 la.. :P
Comment by CincauHangus — May 17, 2007 #
Kj – Yea, normally non-shutterbugs rarely take notice of such things ;p
ECL – You probably need to come over to Johor, go to any Shell petrol station and fill at least RM40 of Shell Super, and you can buy the car for RM7.99. There are 6 models to choose from.
If you fill at least RM40 of V-power, you can buy the same car for RM3.99! But I really don’t think one of these cars would make a nice bday gift… Hehe… maybe the whole collection… or maybe a larger one, like those die-cast metal one.
Rinnah – Wow hahah… can’t believe your Dad so kewlz… Come to think of it, many grown men are young at heart… hehehe…
Cincau – I’ve observed and I still think the F1 one would be my last option – The proportions are kind of weird :p

narrowband, i got F50… from the looks, its bigger than yours. the steering works! with F1 style suspension rods.
Comment by willy — May 18, 2007 #
Well, even in real-life, the F50 *is* supposed to be bigger than the F430. And the steering works, you say??? I don’t believe!! I really need to get my hands on it, then! (Does the suspension work too? Don’t tell me it does…).
Comment by narrowband — May 19, 2007 #
wow, this is nice… too bad.. i dun use shell… mind getting one for me next time u pump? haha
Comment by clement — May 19, 2007 #
yup, suspension DO work! with actual travel distance from ground to arch.
its a 1/16 scale.
i’ll post it up soon on my blog after exam and update u on it ;)
Comment by willy — May 19, 2007 #
Clement – Just change petrol lah. I changed from Petronas to Shell for this :p (Well I was also a Shell user before that actually).
Willy – Wow. Will keep an eye on that!
