Fridays!! I can smell the weekend already - it’s really exciting. Not that I have anything lined up, but as with every weekend, I somehow just look forward to them. Sings to Rick Dees’ soundtrack “I don’t wanna play, I just wanna bang on the drum all day”~. Well alotta things happened last week but as usual, if I wanted to blog about them I most probably would have done it. But there are some stuff which I don’t mind sharing… like my dental visit.

Dentist Reminds Me Not to Brush too Hard!

I went to the dentist for a periodical checkup (aka cleanup, the sophisticated version) two days ago and here’s what I’ve come to conclude: I need to learn how to brush my teeth softly. My dentist told me not to brush too hard, because my gums are showing signs of recession. She warned me that if the gums keep getting scraped away during brushing, they will not grow back again.

Ugly Teeth | Narrowband.orgIf it worsens, I may not have a nice set of teeth anymore! Some teeth may fall off, some may go out of place… I then imagined myself with crooked teeth and all… *shudders*. The thing about me is that, usually, I don’t have the patience to brush for so long. The average brushing time, I’d say is around 2 minutes. It’s boring to stare at myself in the mirror :( (you know what they say about Geminis getting bored easily…). As a result, I tend to brush harder in ‘exchange’ for a shorter duration (if you must know, my toothbrush needs replacing about 2 weeks+ once). Dentists everywhere advise against doing this. So yeah, I gotta change my brushing style. Maybe sticking this picture on the wall would help.

Twit Twit Teree, Twit Twit Teree, Twit Twit Teroo~

Ok, so I’m finally Twitterified. It’s much cooler than I thought. Some people asked me what Twitter is all about, and I actually had difficulty explaining to them - I haven’t been using it long enough to give a very good explanation. But what I managed to gather so far is that Twitter is akin to our status messages in MSN or Yahoo! Messenger. Twitter | Narrowband.orgThe only difference is that Twitter displays your status even though you’re offline, unlike MSN or Y!M where you need to be online for your status messages to be set. Of course. Twitter is more than just that - it also allows you to keep track of your friends’ whereabouts and what they’re doing. You can set to appear in the public time-line too, where everyone on the net will know what you’re up to.

My Twitter badge is fixed in my sidebar (scroll a little lower to see it). I’ve adjusted the width and height, and replaced the code with one that is valid xhtml. Blue suits me fine! :D If you’re a Twitteroonian (okay I think I’ve gone a little too far gorengifying all those terms) as well, feel free to be-Friend me!

Run, Narrow, Run! (You gotta say it the Forrest Gump way)

While I was on my way home today, I actually dropped by MPSJ to register myself for the SJ10K Run. I didn’t even bring my own registration form - goes to show that I really didn’t plan to join at first. Somehow, when I was driving past USJ4, I recalled that the SJ10K this year has been postponed to 26th of August. That’s fine by me, and the next thing I knew, I turned left at the next traffic light towards the MPSJ building.

I took a form at the counter and filled it up on the spot. I’m not running for a medal (not that I can!!). It’s the spirit of participation - I run for fun. It’s in my neighbourhood anyway, so what the heck. Anyone joining in the fun as well?

Unemployed, Still

It’s official: The question “How’s job-hunt?” has become one of my most dreaded questions in recent weeks. Some companies take very long to get back to you, some others take very long to shortlist you for an interview. In both cases, it may also mean you didn’t impress them enough - either in person or in your resume. That’s probably what’s happening to me. I don’t have flying-colour achievements to begin with, and that’s one of the biggest setbacks for anyone looking for an employment (duh!). Of course, being too choosy doesn’t help either.

Anyway, I’ve ‘intensified’ my job-search and I’m just gonna go with any opportunities that come my way. I realize that it’s not really up to me to choose - I don’t have that kind of luxury. Meanwhile, I’ve not hit the panic button yet because I’m still enjoying the ‘holiday’!

I’m Speaking Again

Toastmasters | Narrowband.orgAfter a long break from doing project speeches (no thanks to the final year project and exams), I’ll be taking to the stage again - this time for project speech #9 (persuade with power). I’ve been doing a number of Table Topics (impromptu) speeches but they’re really different from prepared speeches. I’ll be speaking about why one should pick up blogging. Btw, anyone of you a Toastmaster? To my fellow club members who may be reading this, now you know my topic (actually I’m skipping #7 and #8, for the workshop. Will get back to that again later, hehe)! You know, at least there’s something productive still going on in my life, rather than just ESS, ESS and more ESS. (ESS - Eat, sleep, shit). Well besides attending TM meetings, I also head down to the gym pretty regularly now so that’s a good thing. In fact I can feel the little muscle-aches as I’m blogging this. Oh yeah… no pain, no gain right?

*Yawns* I’m so drained today so I’m crashing out extra early tonight. Good night!
