Faculty of Engineering: Class of 2007

It was a wet, wet convocation day at MMU Cyberjaya today. Shortly after exiting the Grand Hall, it rained cats and dogs! Having been confined to our seats for more than 3 hours straight, we couldn’t wait to put our cameras to good use.

Those are among my closest friends when I was in university. If they look familiar to you, that’s probably because you’ve seen them in this video I made a coupla months ago.

There was practically no room to move as everyone sought shelter along the walkway. It was only after the rain had subsided that the crowd began to ease up.

On the ground floor of the FIT complex, ever-the-pretty Meisan decided to measure how tall she was compared to me. Thank you again for that little gift! Really schweeet! ;)

I bumped into EJ while walking towards the lecture hall. He was actually my roommate when we joined the Orientation Committee last year as facilitators.

To be honest, those bears I was holding – they weren’t mine. LOL! When I met Charng Yee (who had two huge bouquets of flowers), I felt like returning those Pooh bears to their rightful owner.

Just as I thought I had seen enough of flowers, I met May Ling. She was holding not one, not two, but three bouquets of flowers! Oh by the by, this lucky girl has recently joined one of the top MNCs in the world. Congratulations again on your appointment! :)

Yian, too, bought me a gift. She came all the way from Penang to join us for this event. Really semangat!

Waisan had been my coursemate for as long as I could remember but I think we hadn’t spoken more than 100 words with each other :p

Convocation Day: Class of 2007 | Narrowband.org

That’s my Robocon buddy, Wong. We took part in the 2006 Robocon competitions and if there was one thing I can remember about him, it’d be his catwalk moment during our free stay in Pan Pacific Hotel!

Just outside the library, I saw Chee Min, who was my housemate about 5 years ago. He will be giving up his high-paying job as a programmer to pursue a Masters degree in South Korea! *Envy*

The girl in pic – I think I’ve mentioned her name more often than anyone else on my blog, haha. That’s Hui, my former housemate of 2 years. She’s our regular yamcha kaki now mostly on Friday nights.

That is one for the album. We’ve been through thick and thin in university together. Fortunately we still keep closely in touch. Except for one. I think.

Kim Hooi is an Electrical major. We lived (still do, actually) and schooled in the same town and we’re now even going to the same gym! :)

Convocation Day: Class of 2007 | Narrowband.org

That’s Wei Ping, my friend from Pre-U. This fellar, together with his colleagues, recently struck a five-digit lottery prize! Damn lucky guy. The winnings was shared equally and he still got quite a lot, I would say.

Ah, how can I miss Chiawyin, my coursemate of 4 years? We both major in Telecommunications, but have now ended up in non-tele fields!

Tze Min and I joined the university in January 2002 and all that I knew about her back then was that she could sing really well. A Microwave major, it’s not surprising that she’s always hot…

Here’s another one for the album: friends we met along the way. Celine had to bend her knees slightly to avoid blocking Timun‘s face. She looks adorable ;D

This low-profile bugger’s team actually won the Shell Technology Innovation Award. Gold Award some more. Really something, man. Congratulations to you, Khek!

Ok, that’s about all the pictures I’m putting up in this entry. I can’t possibly throw all the photos in here, right? Congratulations to all 2007 graduates! Personally, I’d like to thank my coursemates for making this journey an exciting and enriching one.

Flowers? You lar, only sent me virtual ones. Real wan tak sent pun!

Thanks, Hoomun. I wish that all Management, Law, and IT courses take 4 years to complete, like Engineering. Engineering undergrads become really lonely once their IT and Mgmt counterparts have left.

Sunflower – Hmm… How long ago? *Winks* Eh, then what should guys get? I didn’t know guys shouldn’t get flowers! I have a coupla photos taken with some other guy friends, we all were holding flowers. Truth be told, it looked abit gay if you look at it with a slightly ‘unpure’ mind. Heh.

Hc – Whatever your ??? is, I take it as you’re complimenting me. So, thanks first!

Satkuru – Maybe all things yellow tend to attract your attention more? :p I don’t find them any more special than other gifts. Hehe.

    Thanks, Bkworm, and Cybie! :)

Same goes to you, Alicia! By the way, frankly speaking, I forgot it was your birthday until you left. So, happy belated birthday to you. Please accept my heartfelt apologies for not wishing earlier :(

  20. Lingster – Ya job-application period was hell. But I guess we all turn out ok in the end. All’s good :) I didn’t take the tassle, I returned the whole thing as I rented it. Damn, totally forgotten. But then again, dunno what I’ll do with it also!

Thank you, Meisan. I will try my best to keep it for as long as possible!!

Wuching – Thanks. Hopefully, yeah :)

Che-cheh – Haha, I think it’s not the first time you said that (about my height), no? Anyway, thanks! No, I didn’t toss the mortarboard into the air… I was actually worried about not being able to retrieve it afterwards :p

ECL – Thank you! Oh the pretty girls hor… they will be very happy to know you said that!

Bernard – Holy sh*t. Dude, you want me to buy you a meal? What video is that ah? *shudders*

Yeehui – Without the Pooh I look stupid? Damn, I think I’d better go carry Pooh bears around often.

Thank you, Deng. I’m glad I’m done with my course. Well you could always get ‘the feel’ of the convocation ceremony – attend your seniors’ convo lah! ;D

Convo sure feels awesome, esp when I see all the happy faces among you guys. I’m guessing the rain didnt stop any of u. Infact I bet even if it’d snow it don’t matter cos its time to celebrate ;)

  23. ah..congratulations. reminded me of mine a year ago. my convo was all about sweat

    Comment by xin — August 16, 2007 #

  24. Jiayi – Thanks man. Well you can always come back for Master’s. LOL. Anyway dude, I’m sure you were prepared for it the moment you decided to go for the WAT. You gain much more in terms of experience and fun, compared to all of us back home.

Victor – The rain was a little disappointing but we had a good time nonetheless. I’d rather it snowed though :p

Thank you, Xin. If it didn’t rain, my guess is that we’d all be drenched anyway – in sweat :p Now that wouldn’t smell very nice… hehehe…

    Comment by narrowband — August 18, 2007 #

  25. Meh, I’m a little late, but nonetheless, congratulations! :) Everyone looks great. :)

  26. Thank you, Bren!! (Wow it’s been a while since you dropped by!)

    Comment by narrowband — August 26, 2007 #

  27. Oh geez you’re tall! Been wondering what would narrowband looks like. A spec-wearing geek-like? or some “typical” engineering guy? (Well, as I’ve said “some” but not all. :p )

Hmm.. but wait.. I was SO wrong. lol
