Hectic Week

It’s been confirmed - I will be joining a Japanese language course starting next week. I think the time is just right considering I’ve just joined the workforce, and am still single with plenty of time to self-improve. Rather than idling away precious time, I’ve decided that I must pick up as much knowledge and as many skills as possible. I’ll see how it affects my schedule and lifestyle, before looking for other classes to take. A friend suggested ACCA and I went like O__O!!

Anyway, Khek turned 23 two days ago so we had a small gathering at TGIF. The place is quickly becoming a haven for birthday celebrations, thanks to the trademark song-singing and noise-making treatment from the staffs. In almost every visit - as far as I can remember anyway - I’ve always heard them sing birthday songs and celebrate at least one person’s birthday. Note: To those of you who have access to the photos, feel free to use them anyhow wish.

My First Time…

It’s been a hell of a week. I haven’t been getting enough rest, and there are some events coming up next weekend. It’s kinda stressful to even think about them. Anyway, that’s next week. This morning, for the first time ever, I took my baby out to the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong.

Being an absolute n00b, I found the outing pretty exciting. All that was needed was an EF 50mm macro lens - something which Yiming lent me. There were also a couple of extension tubes (awesome!). Believe me, ‘addictive’ is an understatement. It was intoxicating!

Bee Movie and Some Other Scribblings

I read that it’s supposed to be a special day today for singletons in China, because Nov 11 indicates ‘11/11′, which is made up of quadruple 1’s. Not sure how the heck that came about, but it sure is a piece of interesting info. This occasion is also said to be highly commercialized and popular, given the number of singles - which is increasing due to “rising gender imbalance” - in that country. Here in KL, it was just another Sunday. And I finally stepped foot into a cinema again since Transformers. This time it was Bee Movie. Er, entertaining… entertaining… that’s all I can say. At least I got to eat the sweet caramel popcorns.

Travelogue: Singapore in Photos

We went to Jurong for our last day of work, together with our luggages. We left for the airport later that evening. The flight home was delayed slightly, and I reached home at about 9:30pm. Went to office the next day, followed by the gym that night. Absolutely drained, I was! This is gonna be my final blog entry covering my trip to Singapore.

Believe me the fountains looked much nicer in real (there’s only so much I could capture with my humble camera). Little kids were seen having splashing fun while their parents had their meal at nearby restaurants.

Bittersweet Singapore

I’ll have to endure another Sunday here in Singapore because there is more work to be done in the following week. Our flight back home, therefore, has been postponed to a later date. While it’s good that I’ll be able to earn more on allowance, I’m actually looking forward to going back home. Living on this island has turned into an emotional turmoil for me…

My experience here has been more than eye-opening and educational. I made new friends, went out and had a good time - although only for just a couple of times. The most significant thing about my trip here this time is that it marks my first step into really being involved in the marine automation industry. I’m now able to see a bigger picture about this industry, and I’m never more eager to develop my career in this area.

My trip has also spurred my interest in a number of things, namely taking up a new language (of course I’ll also continually brush up my Chinese), and buying a new DSLR camera. For some reason, the motivation has never been stronger.
