I’ll have to endure another Sunday here in Singapore because there is more work to be done in the following week. Our flight back home, therefore, has been postponed to a later date. While it’s good that I’ll be able to earn more on allowance, I’m actually looking forward to going back home. Living on this island has turned into an emotional turmoil for me…

My experience here has been more than eye-opening and educational. I made new friends, went out and had a good time - although only for just a couple of times. The most significant thing about my trip here this time is that it marks my first step into really being involved in the marine automation industry. I’m now able to see a bigger picture about this industry, and I’m never more eager to develop my career in this area.

My trip has also spurred my interest in a number of things, namely taking up a new language (of course I’ll also continually brush up my Chinese), and buying a new DSLR camera. For some reason, the motivation has never been stronger.

This picture has been over-exposed kaw kaw. I needed to use my hand to cover the lens because of my Lumix FX-01’s limited capabilities… (fastest slow-shutter setting is 15 seconds - for shooting stars). As a result, I had effectively captured that picture in about 6-7 seconds. Still, nothing could be done to repair the over-exposure…

I lowered the exposure a little (covered with my palm for a little longer) and took this shot. It appears more balanced. Kids, self-praise is bad for you.

I almost forgot to mention the name of this place. We went to Cosy Bay in Kallang (where the Singapore Stadium is) for some booze and chat. It was pretty relaxing, you know, to be sitting so high up and admire the Singaporean night skyline.

Ok I lied. The skyline wasn’t spectacular, and neither was it really relaxing. The air was still and it was damn hot up there. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the company alot. We were actually in Geylang before that, you see…

The Geylang Drive-Thru
Armed with walkie talkies, we zipped through the traffic talking a lot of crap. We actually used the walkie talkies because we were in two cars. The car in front cheekily said, “I take you go see nice things”, and off we were, headed towards Lorong 8 in Geylang. And once the traffic slowed to a crawl, the walkie talkie buzzed, “Showtime!”.

Before long, a bevy of beauties appeared by the roadside offering sexual services. I’d be lying if I said they weren’t hot. The Volvo in front of us stopped, and a man wound down his window to talk to one of the prostitutes. For once, I actually welcomed a traffic jam. And no, I didn’t snap any pictures. The walkie talkie buzzed again, “Oi, where are you? Don’t want to go back ah?”.

You should see the way the walkie talkie was abused by us. All sorts of Cantonese nonsense were uttered from both ends. Mind you, two ladies were also with us (female colleagues lah!). It was hilarious. Anyway, I now declare that my trip to Singapore has been ‘complete’ (what with the visit to Geylang and the completion of the tests we were supposed to conduct in Jurong). We now only have to pack-up and ship out our equipments.
