Travelogue: Singapore in Photos
We went to Jurong for our last day of work, together with our luggages. We left for the airport later that evening. The flight home was delayed slightly, and I reached home at about 9:30pm. Went to office the next day, followed by the gym that night. Absolutely drained, I was! This is gonna be my final blog entry covering my trip to Singapore.
Clarke Quay

Believe me the fountains looked much nicer in real (there’s only so much I could capture with my humble camera). Little kids were seen having splashing fun while their parents had their meal at nearby restaurants.

And there was this cute restaurant called Clinic, with interesting deco and setting that would immediately remind you of Hospital Besar Kuala Lumpur.

How about sitting on wheelchairs while you dine? I saw (able-bodied) children wheeling about happily on those wheelchairs. Looked kinda fun.

Colourful reflections. Me likey. I realized I have this weird inclination towards snapping pictures of reflections, wherever I go! They never fail to capture my attention.

This is the view on the other side of the bridge. That two brightly-lit poles in the background belonged to the G-Max elastic ride. For a fee, you could strap yourself in a little capsule suspended by elastic cables, and experience some serious G-force.

Perspective shot. Tried standing a little further to the right, but my hand shook slightly. So this was my next best capture. Note the trash bin halfway down the bridge.
Chinatown

I forgot that I have photos taken in Chinatown about a fortnight ago. Honestly, there was nothing much in Chinatown! Boring as anything.

Well at least I had my Lumix in my hands. Thank goodness. Now let’s move on to the malls. I visited quite a number of Singaporean malls, but rarely took pictures. I was at Takashimaya for lunch with a friend, before walking past Ngee Ann City towards Borders.
Orchard Road

That’s where the Subaru Impreza Challenge was held. Contestants were supposed to place their hand on the handprint (on the car) as long as they can. When we arrived, they had already been there for more than 30 hours.

I’ve heard about this contest in previous years, but this was my first time actually witnessing it. The guys were really determined to win the car.

But I can see why. If I were to take part, I die-die also won’t lift my hand off the car! We’re talking about the brand new Subaru Impreza ok… Although it’s not the WRX version, it’s still sexy.

Spent about half an hour in Borders that day. Came out empty handed. Must at least take picture of its entrance.
VivoCity

The rooftoop garden (or Sky Park, as they’d call it) in VivoCity was a good place to chill out and relax. Seriously. What a happening place it was!

Hundreds of people gathered around and picnicked there on that Saturday night. They’d bring their mats, sit on the grass and chat, play games and just have fun.

The obligatory reflections. Hehe.

My friend remarked that Singapore was so small that a tourist spot, a shopping mall, and a container yard were located adjacent to each other. I couldn’t disagree.

Anyway, I was bemused by the number of people picnicking in the Sky Park that night. It must have been their weekly hangout place. I wish my friends and I would do that when we were younger.
Random Shots

I was going to stop writing when I remembered I took this picture. Two jokers actually stopped (abruptly, suddenly) in the middle of the road to settle some ‘misunderstanding’ between them. Pretty amusing I must say.

Captured in Suntec Singapore - a simple yet captivating (water-)show.

That’s the Singapore Flyer. We were hoping we could take a ride in the ferris wheel during out trip. It turned out that the Singapore Flyer will only be officially opened in March, next year.
Homebound

No that wasn’t our plane. Of course not. It’s exciting to know that Singapore Airlines took delivery of their new, much-hyped Airbus A380 during our stay on the island republic.

We had plenty of time at the airport waiting for our flight. So here’s another shot of the Big Bird. Compare it with the plane next to it ;).

My flight back home was pretty comfy. A certain someone taught me to pick the seat near the emergency exit, knowing that I always have problems with legroom (or rather, lack thereof).

Don’t play play ok… There’re special instructions and requirements for passengers seated near the emergency doors. You have to be able-bodied and know how to open the emergency hatch. Haha.
P/s: I hope the pictures loaded quickly enough for you! ;)
08 Nov 2007 narrowband

Either my cam sucks or my picture taking skill is crappy (night shots)
I was watching CNN docu on the new Airbus. Apparently, unless you’re going on their biz class seats, might as well take other airlines’ eco class seats coz it’s cheaper and it’s the same =P
And OMG…Clinic….the wheelchairs look damn eerie man. I mean, I think my appetite sure gone if I go there for dinner. I kept imagining evil spirits like the ones in The Eye lurking around only.
The Subaru thingy, we went back to watch again after you guys left. CRAZY. So many still standing strong. Summore gonna went past 29 hours adi that time.
Skay, try turning on ‘burst-mode‘. I’m pretty sure you’ll appreciate that feature.
But it feels different to be flying in the largest-capacity passenger aircraft in the world! And SQ has the headstart!
As for clinic, you know what’s missing… hot nurses. LOL…
Alamak, I forgot how long they had been standing there dy for the Subaru Challenge. 29 ka? Sap sap sui la… I heard later one they went on to about 50 hours also. Impreza wei… not just any other car ;p
Uik, so fast kambek liao? Thot you’ll be there until end of this week… so the next trip go where?? Should go further, right? :P
Love the karerful reflections in the water too!
Wah… that ‘Skinny Snow Man’ still at VivoCity after one year! O.o

You pernah take AirAsia bo? Wah liao… sure u’ll suffer cos u need so much leg space… :P
Happy Deepavali!!!
Restaurant called clinic?

Angel - Ooo… yea lor, work kautim liao lor. Next trip go where ah… go Puchong. LOL! Next trip won’t come so soon yet lah :)
The Singapore Flyer I don’t think related to their national carrier, but I could be wrong lah. Anyways, yes I have taken AirAsia before but that time free-seating so I picked one whole stretch nobody sit wan. Could baring down and sleep also LOL.
Chen - If the nurses are hot then… erm… ;p
Thanks! ;)
Rinnah - Actually… there’s only one main rule… that is to keep your hands steady, very steady, for night shots or in low-light environment (press the camera against a hard surface like a wall or pillar or something). And lower your shutter speed to about 1 sec instead of 1/8 sec. Additionally (this step is optional, but it’s a bonus), turn on burst-mode (which simply means taking pics in rapid succession - hence the term ‘burst’ - for as long as you hold down your shutter-button). Try it! :D
Julee - Haha. You mean all it takes to ‘complete your life’ now is me buying you coffee and then we camwhore? Wahahah… j/k.
Yes we’ve been saying that for many times liao kan? Haha. *Jots down in to-do list*
Skay - Hehs. Just saw pics of a pimped-up Impreza in the mag ther other day. Awesomeness…
Keeyit - Now almost everywhere got eyes liao. All thanks to London ;p Clarke Quay’s a nice and relaxing place to chill-out… ;)
Thank you, Charngyee!
Gracie - Yes we are! Let’s arrange to meet! (I hope you’re meaning to say we meet in M’sia cuz I’m already back in SJ! You’re aware that I had already spent about 3 weeks in SG right? Right??)
Jian - You’re being too kind, bro. I’m just a noob, starting out ;)
Xin - Might as well go Sarawak? :p Supah dog? Wow… you mean, really dog-meat? Heh… not my type of meal ;p VivoCity was nice tho!
Those are very beautiful photos of Singapore. The fountain at Clarke Quay is awesome huh. hehe…. I love to bring my oversea friends to Clarke Quay. You should go Clinic and take photos.
A few weeks here in Singapore, so boring hor. I live here leh. kakaka….
Again another interesting Singapore travelogue. :) I hate my Lumix because it’s difficult to capture beautiful picture at night. :(
ECL - I passed by Clinic, but I didn’t dine there. Interesting haha.
That’s because I had no other purpose/business there mer. If you come to KL for few weeks also mebbe you’ll say it’s boring :p
Che-cheh - The pics are all Lumix-shots, as mentioned in my email :D. Got ways to improve wan actually… Lumix is a capable camera.
