Pikom PC Fair 2007, KLCC Convention Center

I can honestly tell you, Narrowband has lost his blogging steam (if you haven’t already noticed) – no thanks to heavy workload and off-working hours activities. I worked late on most days, and when I don’t, I head down to the gym. Jap classes are on Wednesdays, but I missed the payment deadline for the first group (whose classes commenced last week, and had *all* places filled up!!). Therefore mine will begin next week. Bummer!

Anyway, I’ve been out shopping during the weekends. Y’know it’s time to upgrade my wardrobe, now that a new year is coming soon. Besides, the sales is really something you can’t ignore. Hahaha. And so is the PC Fair, too…

The humongous Christmas tree in KLCC. I need a wide-angle to capture the whole tree! As usual, KLCC and the Convention Center were crowded like sardine cans but nobody seemed to mind.

I bought a lot of memory upgrades – an 80Gb external drive, a 4Gb CF card, a 4Gb thumbdrive (as a comparison, my old one can only hold 512MB!), and a 2Gb Micro SD card (half of the items are for my sis). There were some other ‘toys’ too, mainly for fun, hehe. Like uhm… a car MP3 player with FM modulator? LOL. Wanted to get a webcam as well but decided that it was too expensive and would be under-utilised anyway.

It’s scary to think about our growing dependence on portable memory drives these days. Some files may be sensitive and some files may be not, but they’re all stored in the same thumbdrive and what if the drive one day fails? That’s why it’s always good to keep a backup copy of all your files.

Short talk: I am very disappointed with the state of instability (not to mention bad publicity) in our country in recent weeks. First it was the street protests, which became quite a trend. And then there were women being abducted, raped and the perpetrators are still at large. Allegations of corruption, also, have been quite a buzz. If you think none of these concern you, I urge you, please think again. Think how *you* can make a difference.

  3. I also wanna go to the PC Fair! (to get the stuff I mentioned to you about). Will probably be going there today… if the crowds and lack of parking space don’t turn me off first. Lawl.

So the next time I see you, you’ll be jabbering away in Japanese? Can teach me a few words ah? I’m working in a Japanese company and am supposed to have 1/16th Japanese heritage… Ahahahaha. J/k!

  4. Pinksterz – Aarrr!! Stubborn summore lah… later regret :p (Actually I also don’t back up periodically… hahahaha!). I only do it when I remember (and have time for it). Lol…

Sat – Can’t go? Why not?

The random road blocks – I know… a few weeks ago I was coming back from Kajang, near Bangi there was a road-block. And from the looks of it, the police were only stopping and questionning drivers based on skin-colour… It was extremely saddening that they had to resort to such a measure (using skin-colour as a criterion).

Rinnah – Parking, OK gua I guess. We didn’t face much difficulty in finding parking. Go earlier lah :D Like… well, it’s about 10:15am now… reach there by noon then you’re considered early dy :p

Well I certainly hope to be able to speak *that* fluently! Teach you a few words, cannnnnnnn!!!!! No problem! We go for sushi (on you) then we talk *Grins*. Eh you 1/16 Yapunis ka? Phwoar that’s about… *press press press calculator*… 6%!! Haha… amboi~ :p

  17. Angel – Got ar! I took my camera out pretty often :p Wah ur ‘wordless’ this and that… all also no need text wan! (LOL @ ‘Speechless Saturdays’) No ler, I prefer to publish an entry with text. Pictures are optional tho.

Day-dreamer – Apparently many people have lost the steam too! Maybe it’s the time of the year lah! :p This time around, miss out on the Mp3 player nvm! Next time then! Maybe the price’ll drop hehehe…

Zewt – Wah 500GB *faints*. The 80GB is sufficient for general use liao. Haha. Besides, the higher you go, the more expensive it is!!

Che-cheh – Ah, thank you for your kind words… I am happy to learn that you find my posts interesting! Notebook ah? Try opting for XP (instead of Vista) and see if the price is any cheaper :p Notebooks these days are cheaper than they were 2 years ago. I’m sure you will find one that you really like and will buy!

Cbenc12 – Ohh! Yes, I should disclose the price. The 4GB Kingston thumbdrive cost me RM78, the 80GB Western Digital SATA external HDD with 2.5″ casing cost me RM200, the 4GB Kingston 133x Compact Flash (CF) card cost me RM145, and the 2GB Sandisk Micro-SD card RM70.

Keeyit – Actually I went to 1U the following day. Hehe. I took alot of pictures using my baby too. Will post it up soon…

The harddrive we bought is 80GB, but yes, Western-D too! You don’t have to buy another laptop at the PC Fair… hahah… maybe a new laptop bag? Thumbdrive? CDR? DVDR? CD Burner? ;p

Mamakcorner – Yeah that’s another place where cheap IT stuff can be bought. Many people go there too.

Giddy Tiger – Don’t forget the music! Must imagine listening to the jazzy Christmas tunes!

Julee – Wah macam hantar orang suruhan :p Eh I saw ALOT of webcams ler!! I did think of buying but then…… :p Just didn’t happen. Hahaha……

Duncan – Stewpig lar, even with the road-block, takkan they really expect to be able to tangkap the rapist… Ridiculous. Already happened liao rite? Fo-sho oni la… Summore to think that the roadblock was only set up in USJ6 (heart of the crime scene itself??!)…… If wanna block, block the whole Subang exit ler…

    A change huh… ;)

HC – I don’t put electronic stuff in my wardrobe lar!

Victor – Yeah man 4GB CF :p I got it for RM145. Riots? Life goes on for me, haha…

  22. Angel – Your tikus story I read on your blog, memang mendidihkan darah~ Paid so much for your KittyKat when you could have gotten it at a cheaper price!

Wah your very Tera hor, aiming for TB liaoz!! Simpan TVB drama kah? Heheh…

Victor – Yeah. Actually there’s another cheaper version but not with 133x speed. 4Gb is good for shooting RAW :p

    Neo – Ok-ok lor… ;)

Jian – Yea it puts us in a bad limelight. What a big embarrassment, so much for being a multi-cultured nation. And now even the United States are interfering, and at least one Malaysian leader has voiced his dismay (he retorted that the US was no less problematic themselves).

    Interesting isn’t it?
