Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure II - Soul of the Night
Holy schmoly!! I got through to be in the last 8, and with that I’ve won myself a new Nokia N82!! OMG ‘excited’ is an understatement!! I can’t sleep tonight liao…
I can’t believe that a little accident actually brought me this far. You see, I had accidentally clicked on the banner advertisement (thank God for advertisements? :p) at the bottom of my Windows Live Messenger, and the next thing I knew, my browser popped up with the Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure 2 website. Curiosity got the better of me, so I started clicking and stuff. The closing date was just the day after. I must have had an angel beside me at that time, because I’ve always hated slogans…
During the audition, I mentioned that I participated in the Spirit of KL race 2 years ago, which was organized by The Star and Digi for tertiary education students in Malaysia. Our team, La Bamba, beat more than 200 teams to win the grand prize of RM10,000 cash, a Nokia handphone for each of us, Digi reloads and 6 free tickets to Siem Reap, Cambodia on AirAsia (yes, I told you guys I’ve been to Cambodia, right? Now you know how it happened…!)
In Spirit of KL, the first 5 teams to reach the finish line would advance to the grand finals - during which we would have to present our findings. We were the second team to reach the finish line, but our presentation was more well prepared. That’s because my partner and I started preparing the slides at noon, with live photos sent in via MMS by our team members. We did not know that our team would make it into the top 5, but we started preparing for the presentation anyway. We also managed to make a 30-second video slideshow in just 10 minutes.
Besides the video slideshow, our team also did a sketch, and gave a slides presentation. The other teams did only sketches because we were given only about 30 minutes to prepare for the whole thing. All our sketches were very much impromptu, hehe. I enjoyed myself tremendously. We stayed at Federal Hotel for one night, and had buffet dinner at the revolving restaurant, overlooking the magnificent Twin Towers. Ok now, let’s come back to the present… hehe…
The judges for the Nokia Wireless Adventure race audition were awesome. I was pretty nervous while waiting for my turn but when I was in there, everything just fell into place. I ignored the fact that there was a camera filming the audition, and answered some simple questions - like, “Do you consider yourself competitive?” hahaha… I’m not telling you how I replied. Suffice to say, there was a lotta laughter in the room throughout.
We even had the cameraguy taking a photo of us! I said I’m a photography buff, and that I have my baby EOS with me (almost) wherever I go. I certainly didn’t expect to be able to use my camera during the audition itself! Oh how I wish all interviews were this fun… :D
P/s. The Nokia Wireless Adventure 2 Challenge will take place this weekend, at 1 Utama. We’ll be staying at One World hotel prior to the race. I don’t know much about the race, all I know is that it has alot to do with the night, nightlife and stuff like that. I also know that the winner will win a trip for 2 to Hong Kong! :p Will I make it? I certainly hope so!! See you at 1U this weekend!

Angel - Ya, and it wasn’t just any temple. It’s the temple that I started going when I was very little. During the Spirit of KL race, that famous temple was featured as one of the checkpoints too :D It’s a famous landmark in KL! Results out liao!
