Since returning home about a week ago, I noticed that the most-frequently spoken word among my friends and family members was “petrol”. My car’s full tank of fuel now costs a digit extra, and that’s something that cannot be ignored. Last week I took leave to exercise my right as a Malaysian citizen (even PRs who have been residing in the country for more than 50 years are not entitled to such right!). I went to the post office (the same one where I registered to be voter) to collect my RM625 petrol rebate.

The procedure was simple and quick (read: the procedure was quick, the queue was not!). All you gotta do bring is your IC and your left thumb. It took me about two hours to get my cash. I walked into the post office and the first thing I did was press for a queue number (angka giliran). There was about 100 *gasp* people ahead of me. I drove off to run some errands before returning to collect my money.

Speaking of petrol, I was at The Curve yesterday (Hancock, anyone?) and I saw the ultimate fuel-guzzling machine.

The US military-standard 4×4, Hummer. Two units of Hummer H3 were displayed, each cost around (these rides were on sale!) RM500K (I had expected it to be much more expensive).

The bigass bling-bling wheels with ultra-low profiles were screaming for attention! The rim itself was definitely bigger than my car’s rim plus tyre combined.

What a cool ride - a big boys’ toys with little or no practical purpose.

Anyway, happy Sunday!

P/s. How was Hancock, you ask? I’d say it was nothing more than an ‘overhype’!

P/s2. A group of friends are heading to Sarawak next week for the Rainforest Music Festival. And I’m trapped in the Peninsular :(
