Tokyo, Japan

I want to thank you all for the kind birthday wishes last month. I got most of them one day late, even though they were sent between 0000hrs and 0100hrs on my birthday. That’s because I didn’t have telco coverage at that time. We were somewhere outside Tokyo Bay. I received a birthday cake from the company too, which was pretty cool. I and another American engineer both celebrated birthdays on board the vessel together.

Hectic Week

It’s been confirmed - I will be joining a Japanese language course starting next week. I think the time is just right considering I’ve just joined the workforce, and am still single with plenty of time to self-improve. Rather than idling away precious time, I’ve decided that I must pick up as much knowledge and as many skills as possible. I’ll see how it affects my schedule and lifestyle, before looking for other classes to take. A friend suggested ACCA and I went like O__O!!

Anyway, Khek turned 23 two days ago so we had a small gathering at TGIF. The place is quickly becoming a haven for birthday celebrations, thanks to the trademark song-singing and noise-making treatment from the staffs. In almost every visit - as far as I can remember anyway - I’ve always heard them sing birthday songs and celebrate at least one person’s birthday. Note: To those of you who have access to the photos, feel free to use them anyhow wish.

A Weekend of Birthdays and a Farewell

A friend will be leaving for Sweden to further studies. He was the guy who taught me to ‘jump over’ the fence to get onto NKVE without passing through toll. Brilliant idea. As an innocent freshie, I joined his company for internship last year and guess what, I got much more than what I could ever bargain for. Little did I know, my arrival also marked the beginning of a lasting friendship with all the permanent staff there. On Friday, we (minus one lost pig who has already gone to Singapore) went down to the city for some Friday night fun.

Actually, we’re no party people. My previous such outing was donkeys years ago lar ok. It was because we wanted to send this guy off with a bang, we came up with something ‘out of the box’ (like how our boss always put it…). Let me tell you a bit about this guy. His super outgoing and adventurous personality saw him conquer mountain and sea alike - he scaled mount KK and possesses a valid diving license. (Diving ok, not driving. Of course, driving license also got lar). He also has an ‘Ikea…’ (private joke). Well bro, Sweden is also home to Ikea - the real one! Hehe. Two years hor, very fast pass one! Take care OK! I will try my best not to miss you!

It was also a joyous weekend - there were so many birthday celebrations. JW invited us for dinner on Saturday, while Sis celebrates hers today. We ordered an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins :D. Absolutely yummy! The week also saw the issuance of my first payslip from this company. *Happy happy*. Next week, there’ll be an annual dinner. More booze. -_-”

Happy Monday!

July Babies

Duncan was the man of the moment went we gathered at TGIF to usher in his 23rd year carrying the Homo Sapien DNA. Dude, sorry for the slightly screwed up handwriting on the card man, hehe. It was a gathering of sorts because it was also the last get-together before Steph and her beau leave for Penang on Friday. We talked about stuff like job-hunt, graduation, and Malaysian football. Haha. Well, basically we were just catching up on each other’s lives.

That’s Duncan, radiating some sorta nucleic energy ball from behind his neck :p. Thanks Chiawyin for calling me in the first place. I made a brief stopover despite the short notice, before adjourning to another secret location for yet another birthday celebration. This time, it’s the Princess‘ birthday. We had already planned to meet up since last month. They’re the ones who bought me my tie, ingat tak?

It was nice to see everyone again, especially after having started working (I thought my social life would reduce to zero. Haha!). I went home quite late and almost couldn’t get up for work this morning. Nevertheless, when I thought about all the smiles and laughter we had last night, I knew I had a great time and it was all worthwhile. Happy birthday to you July babies!

Tomorrow’s my lil sis’ birthday (got sleep-over party summore… Arghh… kids!!), and 9 days later is my other sis’ birthday. There’s one more guy who’ll be celebrating his birthday on the 30th of this month but after assessing their priorities, this guy ranks last lah. Heh. Anyway, he’s already driving a brand new Honda City about 3 weeks before his birthday. Good hor? :p

Why July so many birthdays wan -_-”

P/s: Btw hor, I’m going to watch Jacky Cheung live in Bukit Jalil leh. Any of you going ar?

Edit@21/07/07, 0055hrs: I left out two three more July babies - all of whom are turning 23 this year! Chiawyin will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, Faylin on the 25th, and Mayling a day after. Boy oh boy - October’s the month, huh?

Personal Scribblings and a Peek into My Old Blog

Weekends. How I love weekends. The past week hasn’t been very kind to me, except on my birthday when my friends touched me with their text, YM, email, MSN and Friendster messages. A few even wished me on their blogs, and I just felt like running over to their place and giving them a big, warm narrowhug. I had a simple family dinner over at Italiannies, where the crew even sang two songs for me - complete with a tambourine accompaninent, at that! (Ok, not so ’simple’ after all, huh?). All of that, including the birthday celebrations since as early as April, meant so much to me and it couldn’t have been more wonderful.

Dinner at Waterlily

Earlier this week we met up at Waterlily in Puchong for dinner. A birthday cake was bought too.

Can you spot the posers? :p

We sat outside and dined watching the beautiful sunset. The table was quite small, so we all sat hip-to-hip, which was still OK until the food arrived.

Happy Birthday Hui

May is the month of birthdays. Many people celebrate their birthday in May. It is also the time of the year when school kids can look forward to holidays, and we all can look forward to Summer movie releases from Hollywood.

Chai Hui Birthday

My beloved, ever-the-so-cute-n-pretty ex-housemate’s (*phew* quite a mouthful eh?) birthday falls in May too. She turns 23 today. The picture above was taken during her 22nd birthday. I haven’t seen her around much these days though. Got xxxN forget us already la?

Hehe. Happy birthday to you :)

Earliest Birthday Celebration, Ever

A friend of mine, WN will be leaving for New York State next week under the WAT USA Program. So lucky of her. We met up yesterday for a meal at Nando’s.

Little did I know, I was in for a big surprise. That bunch of boys and girls decided to celebrate my birthday, although it’s still more than a month away!

A Video Slideshow

I was rummaging through my old files when I stumbled upon this. I put together this video slideshow in March last year, using photos taken during Fai’s 23rd birthday celebration (those cartoons at the ending were drawn by Steph). This is the first time a video is embedded on Narrowband.org.

(Wong Kok Cafe is pretty common for birthday celebrations, don’t you think so?)

I’ve nothing much to update, except to say that next week is going to be hectic. Gone are the days when we could be so carefree, so blissful and relaxed. In less than 3 months, we’ll be leaving the university, walking separate ways and chasing our dreams. (I actually have mixed feelings because of that).

Good luck with your midterm papers, peeps.

February Babies’ Dinner at Marche

It was the beginning of a long night. We had no plans, no arrangement and we hadn’t even decided where to go for dinner. All we knew was that the occasion must be celebrated. We finally went down to Marche (strictly, it’s Marché), at The Curve.
