Bon Odori 2008

I’m shy to say that I had never been to the Bon Odori festival before, even though I live just 15 minutes’ drive away from the event venue in Shah Alam. Last night was my first time, and obviously the first thing that amazed me was the super crowd.

Lookout Point and My New Lens

After hearing so much about Lookout Point, I decided to visit that place myself. I was there with my family (and my camera, lol) two weeks ago for dinner. Location map as well as (very detailed) directions are available all over the net, making it almost impossible to get lost finding the place. We managed to finish our dinner before sunset, perfect for photography… lol.

The photo above is an HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo. I shot that photo in RAW, and processing was done at home. This is the first time I’m putting up an HDR photo on my blog (I’m a beginner!). I’ve always admired HDR photography. There is a kind of surreal feel to HDR photos… I like that very much.

Sunburst KL International Music Festival 2008

I stood under the hot afternoon sun, ran in the rain, had my ass (almost) baked while taking shelter right next to a BBQ pit - all for the love of music. Twelve freaking hours of live music, at that. I was at the Sunburst KL International Music Festival in Bukit Kiara, last weekend.

When we arrived, the sky was still clear and there was good sunlight. We were made to stand outside the entrance while the officials checked bags and stuff. It was also clearly stated that no recording devices were permissible but it turned out that nobody actually gave a damn.

FGS Dong Zen Temple Visit

The Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen temple (佛光山东禅寺) in Jenjarom, Selangor, is one of the most popular places to visit every year during the Chinese New Year period. In addition to the beautiful floral and lantern displays, the temple is also abuzz with lots of programmes and activities for visitors.

Just like last year, we paid the temple a visit in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration. We went there last night, which was the 7th day of the Lunar New Year - also traditionally known as “Everyone’s Birthday” (or ‘Day of Humanity’).

Happy Chinese New Year!

Sorry for the erratic updates. It’s been a rocky year thus far for me, but I’m coping OK. It’s the year of the rat, so here’s wishing all Narrowband.org readers a Happy Rat Year!

The Hand

It vibrates. It has 5 fingers. It has an on/off switch. It can be powered by 2 AA batteries, therefore it’s portable. It can also be powered by a USB port. It’s my new toy.

2008 Countdown Fireworks at The Curve

I happened to be privileged enough to have Miss B for company last night. We took a drive down to The Curve to join hundreds - possibly thousands - of revelers there to usher in the new year. There were more than one countdown at The Curve, and at least 3 fireworks displays around the vicinity of Mutiara Damansara. No wonder the crowd. And the jam ;)

Pavilion KL’s Christmas Decorations

Elyn told me to shoot Pavilion. So I must. Haha… Actually, I heard the Christmas atmosphere there is not bad too. Armed with my trusty camera, I took advantage of the public holiday to go and have a look-see.

Enveluv - Real Greeting Cards, Real Luv!

Okay 86.52465% of you would have probably guessed - at first glance - that this is a sponsored entry. Let me assure you, this is not. Narrowband hasn’t crossed over to the dark side yet! I am doing community service right now. I want to talk about a new service that a friend of mine is providing (well, of course he has his own team members lah).

Christmas Decorations

After the PC Fair on Saturday, we went to 1U the following day to catch The Golden Compass. Well, I won’t tell much about the movie, but there was one line that made many cinema-goers chuckle (even myself, I just couldn’t help it :p). Uttered by Iorek Byrnison to Lyra, it went like, “You… wish to ride me?” (of course, it was a purely innocent line with no pun intended). It’s a children’s show so don’t expect too much. Entertaining, nonetheless. And here’s something equally entertaining:-
