The SkyTrex Adventure

Do you like jungle-trekking? How about doing it without touching the ground? Introducing SkyTrex Adventure, where you can challenge yourself to a series of obstacles, suspended at about 3 to 17 meters above the ground. You basically need to move from one tree to another, and the entire course takes around 1 and 1/2 hours to complete - depending on your physical fitness and agility!

SkyTrex Adventure is located inside Taman Pertanian Malaysia (Malaysia Agricultural Park), Shah Alam, which is about 30-40 minutes drive from the KL City Center. If you have been following my blog since last year, you’d probably have read about my cycling excursion in that park with some friends on a Sunday morning. I didn’t know about SkyTrex Adventure back then.

Hot Air Balloon Ride for World Parkinson’s Day

I knew I was gonna volunteer for a charity event, but I didn’t know it was actually in conjunction with World Parkinson’s Day on Friday (11th April). Anyway, I picked Duncan up at his crib around 7 in the morning, and we headed straight to where the balloon was at.

Paintball Fever

Apparently, our previous paintball outing in January had generated quite abit of interest. Therefore, this time around, the number of players shot up to about 30!

The weather was sucky early in the morning, but everyone turned up in high spirits. Some of us gathered at SS15’s Drive-Thru McD’s for breakkie, before heading to TT Sports near Subang Lake View.

Fancy a Game Pain(t)ball?

If anybody ever told you that paintball is a painless game, he was most probably just joking with you. Truth is, a game of paintball hurts not only your wallet, but your body as well.

Of Fireworks and Jay Chou’s Secret

I think the crowd that flocked to Putrajaya for the fireworks competition this week had doubled. Maybe even tripled. Seriously, the jam actually started from DHL in Puchong. Shortly after the USJ toll, I was shocked to see cars coming to a standstill on the way up the ram towards LDP. Needless to say, it took much, much longer than I thought to reach even the second toll.

I decided not to go into Putrajaya anymore as we were definitely going to be late. Luckily Xinyi didn’t mind. We ended up in Cyberjaya, which wasn’t that bad considering we could have missed the whole thing altogether. Actually it was also an enjoyable experience in the sense that you actually watch the show, rather than fiddling with camera settings trying to capture perfect shots. I didn’t bother to set up the tripod as the Italian team had already started their performance. Everyone actually abandoned their cars in the jam (refer to pic), which was pretty cool. I had never parked my car in the middle of the road like that before, lol.

Thankfully the journey back wasn’t as bad as last week’s. It’s strange, I don’t know why. I got home in time for a good night’s sleep, as I gotta get up early this morning for the SJ10K run. I don’t know how well I did, but I think I missed the 60 minutes qualifying time, judging from the time one of the boys told me. In any case, it was a good workout - beats running on the treadmill anytime. Oh btw, I must say that this year’s T-shirt design is bad.

The Hungry Ghost Festival

I’m sure by now you have seen many people burning jossticks and other offerings by the roadside. It is the time of the year (in the lunar calendar, at least) where the Buddhists believe that the gates of hell are opened and the spirits of the dead will roam the streets. Offering jossticks, prayers, food and hell notes is a way to pay our respect for the dead. My family did just that outside our house today, where we paid respect facing all four directions at the crossroad.

By the by, speaking of ghosts, have you watched Jay Chou’s latest movie, Secret (不能说的秘密)? Well it’s not exactly about ghosts, more like a case of intertwined dimensions of time. Ah, whatever it is, it surely was a creative work. I’m not gonna go on telling you about the story, because it’s supposed to be… well, a secret. Go watch it and tell me if it reminds you of M. Night Shyamalan’s The Sixth Sense. Whoops, was that a spoiler? Actually, The Sixth Sense was about ghosts but Secret is not. I can’t say I liked the acting in Secret, but the storyline really impressed me. And the actresses, too - they’re worth a mention. So pretty can!!

Happy Monday, everyone!

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, Zip-a-Dee-Aye…

… my, oh my what a wonderful day! (Blame it on the Disney-ified childhood). It’s a nice, sunny Saturday afternoon and I’m sitting here relaxing at home. ‘Was supposed to meet up with some friends in Midvalley but something else came up, which resulted in my staying at home. It’s not a bad thing, anyway really. My family has gone out and I planned to do a lot of things while I’m home alone, like playing the guitar, watching DVDs, and washing my car.

Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007

Like always, I wish that Saturdays were longer than other days. I also planned to take an afternoon nap - something I have not been able to do since long time ago. But I can almost predict that I won’t be able to do all that today. Tonight there’ll be a fireworks competition taking place in Putrajaya which I hope to go and watch. As a freeloader, paying for the entrance is not an option. Hehe. Besides, who ever said that you have to stand near near to enjoy fireworks?

Subang Jaya 10K Run 2007

Next week I’ll be running in the annual SJ10K Run. It’s one of those events where you just join without any friends coming along with you. It’s not like I’m some big timer who runs regularly. It’s gonna be just for fun! I’m joining it also because it’s on a Sunday morning and I’ll get this strange kick out of completing the whole 10km course. The satisfaction will be felt all over my body, for the rest of the week I’m sure. It’ll be totally refreshing!

Jacky Cheung World Tour Concert 2007

On the 14th of next month, I’m going to watch Jacky Cheung’s concert with a coupla my buddies. We bought the RM198/seat tickets. As much as I wish to commend the organizers for bringing Jacky Cheung to Malaysia, their ticketing service is somewhat disappointing. We were treated rudely during the purchase and in my opinion, some of the staffs were better off stationed out of customers’ sight. Anyway, on the brighter note, we got discounts for all 4 of our tickets and we look forward to the show.

Freeloading at its Best: Gym Membership

My gym membership contract was supposed to expire this month. However, I’ve not been asked about this month’s dues at all. I was ready to make a payment already and each time I arrived at the counter, I would half-expect to hear their friendly ‘reminder’. But then no, I’ve been allowed to enter as if I owed them nothing (more than three times already, haha!). Strange. Maybe their system kinda screwed up because it’s a special month - the month my contract officially expires. I’ll see how long I’m allowed to enter without paying. LOL.

On Facebook

It’s official. Besides Friendster, I’m now also on Facebook. And they’re probably the only two social networking accounts I’m gonna have. I won’t be able to handle anything more than those two. I only began using Facebook today, after Rinnah Facebookified me early this morning (trust me, damn early - about 7:30am I think). I was just talking to Julee about Facebook’s complexity, because everything looks so strange, and there’re so many apps! I feel damn n00b. Nevertheless, I’m learning my way around the site and yeah, feel free to look me up!

Have a good weekend, everyone!

The Naked Truth About My Gym’s Locker Room

You know the thing about taking a shower at my gym is that, you have to put up with curtains instead of doors. After hearing stories about gay men lurking in gym locker rooms and stuff, I can’t help but take some precautions also lah. Since the curtains can be opened by anyone at anytime, I usually do a splash ‘n dash just to get out of there as soon as possible.

Also, I always face inside and rarely outside. Maybe it’s because that’s where the soap and shampoo are. Or maybe it’s that silly fear of someone popping me a surprise visit while I’m busy lathering. I don’t know. And because I have my back facing the curtain, it tends to stick to my wet butt cheeks when I move around in the tiny shower cubicle (hate it when it happens!).

You would think that the cubicles have hooks for you to hang your towels, etc. You’re wrong. There are no hooks - just a shower head extended long enough so you can hang your towel there. Normally, I bring in my undies in also lah. Now, since I have more than one item hanging on the same horizontal bar (which is the extension that leads to the shower head), removing any one of them is a delicate task. I wouldn’t want to drop any of them onto the wet floor.

Back in the locker area, it’s the usual sight of men checking themselves out in the mirrors. The mirrors there, I tell you, are a crowd favorite. We savor the ‘results’ of the day’s workout by looking into the mirrors. Actually, these results are usually less obvious the next morning because the muscles have relaxed. To get a more ‘permanent’ shape would of course require a consistent workout regime and an appropriate diet.

Sometimes, if I’m unlucky (or lucky, whatever makes you happy), I bump into someone who doesn’t mind displaying his ‘tools’ for all to see. I have to be very honest with you - I find looking at another male’s anatomy very disgusting. On a brighter note, it shows I’m totally straight. So, such sightings are not welcomed. My friends tell me it’s more rampant in some other gyms in KL, luckily I’m not a member there.

P/s: I’ve about two more months before I renew my membership. I wonder if I should…

Blood Test

I’m starving as I’m writing this. All because I’ll be going for a blood test tomorrow. Yes you heard me right, a blood test. Why all of the sudden, you may ask. Because sis recently had her blood tested and it was found that her cholesterol level was quite high for her age and size. The doctor suggested that this might be hereditary. Hence my blood test tomorrow. And my starvation now.

The Ubiquitous Keropok Lekor | Narrowband.org

Bkworm was just teaching us how to soothe a restless and hot afternoon. Her method, coincidentally, is also one that my sis subscribes to. At least until today. The picture above shows a keropok lekor stall in SS15 - one of sis’ favorite stalls. It was taken on one hot, sunny afternoon. I must admit, their keropok lekor is super delicious. But I don’t eat it always. Honest. Only sometimes I curi some from sis (eh, standard la).

I was just telling her that I don’t believe I have high cholesterol level. I even pinched my arm to prove my point, “See? How can I possibly have high cholesterol level?” (which backfired because she said that didn’t prove anything). Well, high cholesterol or not, there’s only one way to find out. I’ll be going to the lab first thing tomorrow morning. I hope my diet + lifestyle have done me some good. I also hope the garlic smell in my breath won’t distract the nurse (gee our garlic-ish dinner was yummylicious). Ok time to call it a day now, good night.

Edit@June 30th: Cholesterol levels are OK. Strangely, the amount of platelets was slightly below normal range. And the doctor used a coupla other medic terms to explain the report. That moment pretty much convinced me that my 3B (instead of a distinction) for SPM Biology was justified. Worse, they were all in English, instead of BM which I learned in school. Haha. The way ECG (electro-cardiogram) measurements were taken was cool. Sensors were placed on my body, hands and at the ankles. Firstly, some super-cold gel was applied, during which my muscles naturally contracted, lol. Damn cold ok. Then followed by the sensors (with suction power). When the sensors were removed there were hickies all over!! Haha!

Incoherent Friday Scribblings

Fridays!! I can smell the weekend already - it’s really exciting. Not that I have anything lined up, but as with every weekend, I somehow just look forward to them. Sings to Rick Dees’ soundtrack “I don’t wanna play, I just wanna bang on the drum all day”~. Well alotta things happened last week but as usual, if I wanted to blog about them I most probably would have done it. But there are some stuff which I don’t mind sharing… like my dental visit.

Dentist Reminds Me Not to Brush too Hard!

I went to the dentist for a periodical checkup (aka cleanup, the sophisticated version) two days ago and here’s what I’ve come to conclude: I need to learn how to brush my teeth softly. My dentist told me not to brush too hard, because my gums are showing signs of recession. She warned me that if the gums keep getting scraped away during brushing, they will not grow back again.

VMY2007: Taman Pertanian Malaysia

I’m not even sure if I should associate my visit to the park with the VMY2007 campaign. By the way, in English, it’s known as the Malaysia Agricultural Park. It was my first time there, and I’m not surprised that it may well be my last, too. I think it’s a great hangout place if you’ve nothing better to do on a Sunday morning, really.

Taman Pertanian Malaysia | Narrowband.org

We got up at about 7am on a beautiful Sunday morning, and drove to Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam in high spirits (btw, I rarely wake up that early on Sundays!). It was overall a fun trip, because I had a great company of friends and we had lotsa fun by ourselves. But gee…, the place seriously needs a little bit of maintenance.
