Public Shower

For many of you who’ve stepped foot on Japanese soil before, I bet there was one thing that you didn’t do while you were here. It’s something that most of us are not accustomed to. It even borders on absurdity. And I know that if I tell this to some of my friends back home, they’ll say it sounds a little wrong as well. While I’m sure you can find similar practices in other parts of the world, in my case I experienced it right here in Japan. It was a culture shock of sorts. I don’t know what we usually call it back home (because it’s so uncommon nobody actually bothered to come up with a term), but here they simply call it ‘public shower’.

The SkyTrex Adventure

Do you like jungle-trekking? How about doing it without touching the ground? Introducing SkyTrex Adventure, where you can challenge yourself to a series of obstacles, suspended at about 3 to 17 meters above the ground. You basically need to move from one tree to another, and the entire course takes around 1 and 1/2 hours to complete - depending on your physical fitness and agility!

SkyTrex Adventure is located inside Taman Pertanian Malaysia (Malaysia Agricultural Park), Shah Alam, which is about 30-40 minutes drive from the KL City Center. If you have been following my blog since last year, you’d probably have read about my cycling excursion in that park with some friends on a Sunday morning. I didn’t know about SkyTrex Adventure back then.

I can’t believe that a little accident actually brought me this far. You see, I had accidentally clicked on the banner advertisement (thank God for advertisements? :p) at the bottom of my Windows Live Messenger, and the next thing I knew, my browser popped up with the Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure 2 website. Curiosity got the better of me, so I started clicking and stuff. The closing date was just the day after. I must have had an angel beside me at that time, because I’ve always hated slogans…

Paintball Fever

Apparently, our previous paintball outing in January had generated quite abit of interest. Therefore, this time around, the number of players shot up to about 30!

The weather was sucky early in the morning, but everyone turned up in high spirits. Some of us gathered at SS15’s Drive-Thru McD’s for breakkie, before heading to TT Sports near Subang Lake View.

Fancy a Game Pain(t)ball?

If anybody ever told you that paintball is a painless game, he was most probably just joking with you. Truth is, a game of paintball hurts not only your wallet, but your body as well.

The Hand

It vibrates. It has 5 fingers. It has an on/off switch. It can be powered by 2 AA batteries, therefore it’s portable. It can also be powered by a USB port. It’s my new toy.

Enveluv - Real Greeting Cards, Real Luv!

Okay 86.52465% of you would have probably guessed - at first glance - that this is a sponsored entry. Let me assure you, this is not. Narrowband hasn’t crossed over to the dark side yet! I am doing community service right now. I want to talk about a new service that a friend of mine is providing (well, of course he has his own team members lah).

My First Time…

It’s been a hell of a week. I haven’t been getting enough rest, and there are some events coming up next weekend. It’s kinda stressful to even think about them. Anyway, that’s next week. This morning, for the first time ever, I took my baby out to the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong.

Being an absolute n00b, I found the outing pretty exciting. All that was needed was an EF 50mm macro lens - something which Yiming lent me. There were also a couple of extension tubes (awesome!). Believe me, ‘addictive’ is an understatement. It was intoxicating!

Travelogue: Singapore in Photos

We went to Jurong for our last day of work, together with our luggages. We left for the airport later that evening. The flight home was delayed slightly, and I reached home at about 9:30pm. Went to office the next day, followed by the gym that night. Absolutely drained, I was! This is gonna be my final blog entry covering my trip to Singapore.

Believe me the fountains looked much nicer in real (there’s only so much I could capture with my humble camera). Little kids were seen having splashing fun while their parents had their meal at nearby restaurants.

Bittersweet Singapore

I’ll have to endure another Sunday here in Singapore because there is more work to be done in the following week. Our flight back home, therefore, has been postponed to a later date. While it’s good that I’ll be able to earn more on allowance, I’m actually looking forward to going back home. Living on this island has turned into an emotional turmoil for me…

My experience here has been more than eye-opening and educational. I made new friends, went out and had a good time - although only for just a couple of times. The most significant thing about my trip here this time is that it marks my first step into really being involved in the marine automation industry. I’m now able to see a bigger picture about this industry, and I’m never more eager to develop my career in this area.

My trip has also spurred my interest in a number of things, namely taking up a new language (of course I’ll also continually brush up my Chinese), and buying a new DSLR camera. For some reason, the motivation has never been stronger.
