Prattles

I feel like running head-on into a punching bag now. I was composing an entry when I got an MSN message - which was, by the way, nothing but a virus-infected URL - and like always, I wanted to close the window. I didn’t realize the window wasn’t maximized, and I accidentally closed my Firefox instead. I have decided to block the contact. Serve me right for not blocking her earlier, because everytime she came online, the same message would appear. Whatever happened just now has got to be the last straw. If it affects my blogging - which I haven’t been doing much lately - it affects me badly!

The SkyTrex Adventure

Do you like jungle-trekking? How about doing it without touching the ground? Introducing SkyTrex Adventure, where you can challenge yourself to a series of obstacles, suspended at about 3 to 17 meters above the ground. You basically need to move from one tree to another, and the entire course takes around 1 and 1/2 hours to complete - depending on your physical fitness and agility!

SkyTrex Adventure is located inside Taman Pertanian Malaysia (Malaysia Agricultural Park), Shah Alam, which is about 30-40 minutes drive from the KL City Center. If you have been following my blog since last year, you’d probably have read about my cycling excursion in that park with some friends on a Sunday morning. I didn’t know about SkyTrex Adventure back then.

Paintball Fever

Apparently, our previous paintball outing in January had generated quite abit of interest. Therefore, this time around, the number of players shot up to about 30!

The weather was sucky early in the morning, but everyone turned up in high spirits. Some of us gathered at SS15’s Drive-Thru McD’s for breakkie, before heading to TT Sports near Subang Lake View.

Quiksilver Revolution Tour 2.0 at Sunway Lagoon

The 2008 Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 at the Sunway Lagoon’s surf beach saw some of the world’s best boarding actions performed on and off beach, much to the enjoyment of the appreciative Malaysian youths who mostly turned up revealing more skin than they usually do on normal days. It was a wicked beach party!

Fancy a Game Pain(t)ball?

If anybody ever told you that paintball is a painless game, he was most probably just joking with you. Truth is, a game of paintball hurts not only your wallet, but your body as well.

To Round It Up…

We’re seconds away from a spanking brand new year and let me tell you, 2007 has been nothing short of rewarding as far as blogging is concerned. I made many new friends and saw many new faces - each has their own writing style and their own legion of readers. Best of all, it is gratifying to know that some of these people actually do recognize you and have at some point in time dropped by your blog before.

Yesterday I had one such opportunity (possibly the final one in 2007) - to go out and meet several fellow Malaysian bloggers at Pavilion KL. Esther told me that there would be a free AVP screening, and asked if I was interested. As a freeloader, I’m always up for anything that employs the ‘no-payment’ scheme. After the movie, I was thankful that the ticket was free because otherwise I’d have kicked myself for actually paying to watch it. Oh right, this post isn’t supposed to be about AVP…

An Old Friend

I bumped into an old friend some moons ago. She said I’ve grown thinner, despite the scales telling me otherwise. I think the additional mass has gone to some other (hidden) parts of my body where only a *select* few have visual access to. And that is actually quite a lame thing to say when someone asks you what happened to your workouts. Believe me it is. And then she remarked that some people *do* get beefier, but not obviously so when they’re fully clothed. I think she was just being nice.

We had a simple meal, and a whirlwind conversation throughout. It felt like we were in some kinda Yattafying-capsule that could take us back and forth in time. We talked about how neither of us really made an impression on each other when we first met. As a matter of fact, I don’t even remember if we started speaking in English or Chinese back then. If it was Chinese, I would have most probably embarrassed myself badly. If it was English, she might have found me snobbish. All I know is, in the months that followed, our acquaintanceship hardly progressed.

But when I saw her it felt like we had known each other since last century. It was refreshing. We talked about our friends, friends’ friends and mutual friends whom I rarely hanged out with. If you asked me, I’d have preferred talking about her and her family instead. And then I contemplated telling her about how I felt about her. That moment I wish I had a bottle of vodka with me. Hadn’t felt like that in ages. I considered the fact that we still had a long night, so I decided to postpone it a little longer. And postpone it, I did. Yet again. I told you I needed booze. I pretended everything was cool.

I looked at her under the dim light, and tried to find that bruise she told me about. I hope she didn’t notice my curiosity. And then a waiter interrupted. Not the same guy this time, but the same question alright. I said “You’re the second person to ask us this.” He apologized and we laughed it off. That was when I was struck, once again. I hadn’t seen her smile or laugh a lot, but when she did I’d get a little emotional. She presented me with a little gift that night - something I couldn’t use everyday, but keep. As I walked her to her doorstep - a nice little place up in a brightly lit neighbourhood - I wished the day didn’t have to end.

Hectic Week

It’s been confirmed - I will be joining a Japanese language course starting next week. I think the time is just right considering I’ve just joined the workforce, and am still single with plenty of time to self-improve. Rather than idling away precious time, I’ve decided that I must pick up as much knowledge and as many skills as possible. I’ll see how it affects my schedule and lifestyle, before looking for other classes to take. A friend suggested ACCA and I went like O__O!!

Khek’s 23rd Birthday at TGIF

Anyway, Khek turned 23 two days ago so we had a small gathering at TGIF. The place is quickly becoming a haven for birthday celebrations, thanks to the trademark song-singing and noise-making treatment from the staffs. In almost every visit - as far as I can remember anyway - I’ve always heard them sing birthday songs and celebrate at least one person’s birthday. Note: To those of you who have access to the photos, feel free to use them anyhow wish.

My First Time…

It’s been a hell of a week. I haven’t been getting enough rest, and there are some events coming up next weekend. It’s kinda stressful to even think about them. Anyway, that’s next week. This morning, for the first time ever, I took my baby out to the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong.

Being an absolute n00b, I found the outing pretty exciting. All that was needed was an EF 50mm macro lens - something which Yiming lent me. There were also a couple of extension tubes (awesome!). Believe me, ‘addictive’ is an understatement. It was intoxicating!

Bee Movie and Some Other Scribblings

I read that it’s supposed to be a special day today for singletons in China, because Nov 11 indicates ‘11/11′, which is made up of quadruple 1’s. Not sure how the heck that came about, but it sure is a piece of interesting info. This occasion is also said to be highly commercialized and popular, given the number of singles - which is increasing due to “rising gender imbalance” - in that country. Here in KL, it was just another Sunday. And I finally stepped foot into a cinema again since Transformers. This time it was Bee Movie. Er, entertaining… entertaining… that’s all I can say. At least I got to eat the sweet caramel popcorns.
