Mobile Phones and Me

Edit @ 2 Oct 2007: I recently came across an article, on what we normally call ‘miss-calling’. Describing the practice as ‘beeping’, the article teaches you 4 rules that you should think about, before deciding to miss-call anyone. Read it here in full!

In a blink of an eye, it’s another weekend again. It seems like the best time for me to blog is during the weekends! Well, it doesn’t help either to know that many of my entries remain as drafts, and have little chances of getting published. Anyway, during the inactivity of my blog in the past week, Angel and Rinnah wanted to know what phones I’ve used before.

Mobile Phones and Me | Narrowband.orgIf you’re in the same age bracket as me, you most probably have used a Nokia 3310 before. However, if you’re a little older, you might have used the Nokia 3210 instead. I know many of my seniors had that phone! I used up my savings to purchase the 3310 during the year-end holidays in 2000 (wow it’s been 7 long years!), and I must also add that at that time, the phone was everything to me. Gone were the days when my friends and I would call each other on landlines. Gone were the days when we’d say, “Hello auntie, may I speak to xyz please?”. The 3310, despite its non-coloured screen, was a hit back then. It was durable, user-friendly, robust… it was a luxury! I remember spending time looking for ringtones, operator logos, and nice casings for my phone. To think that we only had monophonic ringtones back then…… lol. Anyway, my 3310 was stolen by some brat during a basketball game. Yes, 3310 was no cheapskate phone those days, so much so that it attracted thieves!

Crabster

Okay, I had never thought that I’d actually do this - blogging from work… lol. But hey, I’ve been drafting this for some time now, and the pictures have all been uploaded long time ago. So what I’m actually publishing now is actually an entry that is long overdue, especially because it’s also a tag passed on to me (long, long time ago!!) by two very generous bloggers, Rinnah and Bengbeng! (Warning: If you’re fasting, you may want to skip this entry… hehe. Happy fasting, by the way, to all Muslim readers)

Crabster | Narrowband.org

In that tag, I’m supposed to tell you about my favorite food, but let me just say this: I don’t have a favorite food. I down almost anything edible, hehe. I kinda like seafood though, and all the pictures shown here in this entry was taken in a restaurant called Seaview (something like that, I can’t remember), located somewhere in PJ New Town. The picture above shows their Jiu Pai Min, which means ‘Trademark Noodles’ in Cantonese.

If I Had One Million Bucks

MG wanted to know what I would do if I had one million bucks. Since I’m in Malaysia, let’s assume that the currency is RM. Having joined the workforce just less than a month ago, I have been thinking about plans and stuff. Most of them though, are dreams. (Sure la, first paycheque also haven’t taken yet). But hey, who knows if they will come true? In Chinese, they say 美梦成真! Anyway, let us now dive into dream mode:-

Contrary to what most people would do, my first priority is not to get something I truly like. I would dive into investments. In other words - make the money grow! Invest in the stock market, funds, properties, etc.. Of course, I’ll need to study, do research and analyze thoroughly the market because I could make losses. I may get an expert or two to help me with this. The returns may not be immediately noticeable, but they’ll bear fruit in the long run.

I could also decide on buying my own house. It’s not gonna be a cash-and-carry kind of thing, because I could always work out a flexible financial plan. So now, what if I have some money to spare? This is where shopping comes in. Maybe upgrade my wardrobe, buy a new guitar, a nice watch, etc.. I don’t have spend it all right? I love cars - I’m a motoring freak but come to think of it, my job does not require me to drive alot. Maybe a cheap one would do, until I’m really earning enough.

So, if I had one million ringgit, yeah - I’d probably do as mentioned. Now let’s snap back to reality. It’s not gonna come easy. Although I think my job can provide me a decent lifestyle, I am not sure about becoming a millionaire. Maybe I could, if I get promoted to top-management level. Otherwise, it’ll take ’something else’ to make me a millionaire. I’ll need divine intervention, lol.

P/s: Would I have thought the same if I had a girlfriend? *Food for thought…*

I am not gonna pass this meme to anyone, but I hope you guys enjoyed reading my version!

Me is teh Schmoozilicious Bloggr. wOOt!

The Power of Schmooze Awards | Narrowband.orgI thought I saw ’s-m-o-o-c-h’. Although I’m no less good at that, I wondered how Angel knew :p Just kidding. HAHA! Ok now, if I told you I knew the meaning of the word ’schmooze’, then I must be lying. According to online definitions, ’schmooze’ means “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” And to be awarded by the angel herself… WOW! - It must have been my lucky day. I feel really honoured.

Being a recipient of this coveted award made me feel almost like I could fly. Hehe. Now, I’m supposed to make five other people feel the same!

  1. Day-dreamer
  2. Wuching
  3. Rinnah
  4. Bkworm
  5. Hooiching

Don’t you just feel loved? ;)

Rinnah’s Tag

I’m still drafting a new entry. Meanwhile, Rinnah spread her love to me last night. Oh no wait, that doesn’t sound right. Link love, kay? Link love. Now, to avoid building up a huge backlog (of undone tags), I feel compelled to respond to it now.

**********
1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.

2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!

Deng’s 10-Question Tag

Deng asked me some questions two days ago. Blogging has slowed down considerably on Narrowband.org (blogger’s block… :p), so tags are great to keep the blog alive!

Instructions: Please answer all questions. You may spice it up with humour, puffery or exaggeration. Nonetheless, it has to be the truth. Upon completion, please pass it on to 5 friends.

1. Your nickname that is used the most? What is the reason behind the nickname?
Narrowband. Began using it many years ago; inspired by my then-internet connection (dial-up). Our prized possession at that time was the 56K US-Robotics modem.

Deng's 10-Question Tag | Narrowband.org

We had more than one of those fax modems; I remember seeing one being zapped during a thunderstorm.
