The Nokia Wireless Adventure II Race (Part 3)

As we couldn’t take our own cameras along during the race, all photos shown here in this entry except for the last two - were taken using the N82 itself. During the race, we could only use one phone for uploading photos (SIM card provided by the organizers), so a little bit of strategy had to kick in here. Two in-car phone chargers were also provided for obvious reasons. The topics for the race were announced only around 5 minutes before the actual flag-off.

There were 8 Nissan Cefiros that were used as race vehicles - one for each team. We had to get back to 1U (our finish-line) in 5 and 1/2 hours’ time, and we wanted to cover 5 locations! In each car, there would be a driver, a cameraguy, a race marshal, and the two team members. Our cameraguy’s name was Desmond, our race marshal Eve, and our driver was Mr Ibrahim! Mr Ibrahim was an excellent driver because he knew almost the whole Klang Valley, including short cuts and all.

The Nokia Wireless Adventure II Race (Part 2)

The announcement of team members was made shortly before the phone handover ceremony at the Hibiscus function room in One World Hotel. I was indeed very lucky to be paired with Pinkpau, cuz I knew she could write very well! She could come up with just the right descriptions for our photos during the race.

The Nokia Wireless Adventure II Race (Part 2) | Narrowband.org

You can say that I had it easy - I practically skipped the whole description-writing part and left that to her. She also went around interviewing people (-.-”) in order to get more background info and stuff. We’ll come to that later…

The Nokia Wireless Adventure II Race (Part 1)

The Nokia Wireless Adventure II race was fun. It really was. I remember how panicky it felt when we thought we couldn’t upload all our photos onto the website (via 3G) on time. Damn stress ok. Anyway, it’s over now and a very big congratulations to the winners, Suanie and Frankie who each won a trip for two to Hong Kong!

The Nokia Wireless Adventure 2 Race (Part 1)

On top of that, they also get RM1500 bux for pocket money! And don’t forget that brand new Nokia N82 which was given to everyone the night before. I think it was a close race. Everyone was really good, and I believe that must’ve had given the judges a hard time determining the winner. I have lots of photos so I’ll do this in parts. First up, show you my roommate.

Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure II - Soul of the Night

Holy schmoly!! I got through to be in the last 8, and with that I’ve won myself a new Nokia N82!! OMG ‘excited’ is an understatement!! I can’t sleep tonight liao…

Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure II - Soul of the Night | Narrowband.org

I can’t believe that a little accident actually brought me this far. You see, I had accidentally clicked on the banner advertisement (thank God for advertisements? :p) at the bottom of my Windows Live Messenger, and the next thing I knew, my browser popped up with the Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure 2 website. Curiosity got the better of me, so I started clicking and stuff. The closing date was just the day after. I must have had an angel beside me at that time, because I’ve always hated slogans…

The Hand

It vibrates. It has 5 fingers. It has an on/off switch. It can be powered by 2 AA batteries, therefore it’s portable. It can also be powered by a USB port. It’s my new toy.

Pikom PC Fair 2007, KLCC Convention Center

I can honestly tell you, Narrowband has lost his blogging steam (if you haven’t already noticed) - no thanks to heavy workload and off-working hours activities. I worked late on most days, and when I don’t, I head down to the gym. Jap classes are on Wednesdays, but I missed the payment deadline for the first group (whose classes commenced last week, and had *all* places filled up!!). Therefore mine will begin next week. Bummer!

Anyway, I’ve been out shopping during the weekends. Y’know it’s time to upgrade my wardrobe, now that a new year is coming soon. Besides, the sales is really something you can’t ignore. Hahaha. And so is the PC Fair, too…

Hectic Week

It’s been confirmed - I will be joining a Japanese language course starting next week. I think the time is just right considering I’ve just joined the workforce, and am still single with plenty of time to self-improve. Rather than idling away precious time, I’ve decided that I must pick up as much knowledge and as many skills as possible. I’ll see how it affects my schedule and lifestyle, before looking for other classes to take. A friend suggested ACCA and I went like O__O!!

Khek’s 23rd Birthday at TGIF
Hectic Week | Narrowband.org Images

Anyway, Khek turned 23 two days ago so we had a small gathering at TGIF. The place is quickly becoming a haven for birthday celebrations, thanks to the trademark song-singing and noise-making treatment from the staffs. In almost every visit - as far as I can remember anyway - I’ve always heard them sing birthday songs and celebrate at least one person’s birthday. Note: To those of you who have access to the photos, feel free to use them anyhow wish.

Bee Movie and Some Other Scribblings

I read that it’s supposed to be a special day today for singletons in China, because Nov 11 indicates ‘11/11′, which is made up of quadruple 1’s. Not sure how the heck that came about, but it sure is a piece of interesting info. This occasion is also said to be highly commercialized and popular, given the number of singles - which is increasing due to “rising gender imbalance” - in that country. Here in KL, it was just another Sunday. And I finally stepped foot into a cinema again since Transformers. This time it was Bee Movie. Er, entertaining… entertaining… that’s all I can say. At least I got to eat the sweet caramel popcorns.

Friday Yak

Crap. I decided not to publish the entry I was drafting, again! It happens, haha :). That leaves me with almost nothing to write now. Been out for the past 4 weeknights. Company annual dinner was an eye-opener. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s PC Fair, where I hope to get my new harddisk. Although I’m happy with the laptop I’m currently using (newer, higher-spec and faster), nothing beats using something which you can claim is yours. Haha.

Friday Yak | Narrowband.orgCame across this from Rinnah’s. Only 78% addicted lah me! That’s a good sign leh, not so serious yet. In fact, I haven’t been updating my site as frequently as I used to, no thanks to not being able to blog in office. Not that there was any restriction; it’s just me. But I do read my feeds ;). Google Reader has been wonderful. Nevermind the slow updates, I simply love the Gmail-like interface. Oh, I just found out that my colleague keeps a blog. I don’t know if anyone was supposed to know, but I accidentally caught a glimpse of his screen, lol! I was trying so hard not to blurt that I’m a blogger myself. I succeeded. Heh!

And then I’ve been going online using my phone lately. That explains - to some of you - why I couldn’t open the URLs you sent me. I tried opening both applications (web browser and MSN) simultaneously but after a while, the MSN automatically exits. I guess my phone hates to multi-task.

Friday Yak | Narrowband.org

By the way, using MSN on phone is made possible by Fring. Have a great weekend, peeps. If you bump into me at the PC Fair tomorrow, dun shy shy yah?

P/s: Convocation next weekend!! *Excited*

Edit@Sunday, Aug 15 Aug 5 (Oops, thank you HC!): Finally bought a new internal drive for my laptop! Got it for a little over RM200 (120GB capacity). Spent the whole night formatting, re-installing OS, security apps and drivers. And because the PC’s relatively empty, it’s blistering fast now! *Whee*

Announcing the Demise of my Harddisk

Yes, the drive has journeyed on to the Land Where Consumer Electronics Are Eternally Blessed. But it’s not the end of the world. Surprisingly, I’m not *that* upset about it. I mean, I have back ups of the really important stuff - like photos. Documents… I can’t think of any important documents that I’ve lost. I have back ups of my lecture notes and slides throughout my years in university though - if you consider that important.

Announcing the Demise of my Harddisk | Narrowband.org

That’s my harddisk, being treated under Intensive Care Unit. It didn’t make past the critical stage. It showed some positive signs, after more than 15 minutes plugged into another laptop - signs that say the drive was successfully detected. However, efforts to access it were futile. The clacking noise made was pretty loud. I could actually feel something knocking against its casing when I held the drive in my hands. Something mechanical has apparently gone terribly wrong. I’m in the process of getting a new hdd. Meanwhile, I’ll be using another laptop at home - which has become somewhat like a ‘common laptop’ in the family hall. It’s much newer than mine, and has better specs so it’s not that bad.

Announcing the Demise of my Harddisk | Narrowband.org

By the way, Google Reader rawks. I just love the interface. Remember I was talking about my feed management in Feedreader? Well, the downside is that it’s offline. Therefore, it’s gone together with my dead harddisk. I’ve since been using Google Reader. I guess keeping things online does have its advantages. In fact, a number of my installer (setup) files have previously been uploaded onto my server too. As for mp3s… ahh… they were my prized collection. But then again, I hardly listened to all of them, only a select few. And guess what, I have my favorite tracks in my phone already (especially one super rare track). Thank goodness.

I don’t like Mondays. Especially when it rains. But I like Monday nights - because it’s my workout night. Heading to the gym now, adios!

Here’s a community service reminder: BACK UP YOUR HARDDISK TODAY! Or, at least your important files. Failing to do so may cause severe depression. Be very afraid.
