The announcement of team members was made shortly before the phone handover ceremony at the Hibiscus function room in One World Hotel. I was indeed very lucky to be paired with Pinkpau, cuz I knew she could write very well! She could come up with just the right descriptions for our photos during the race.

You can say that I had it easy – I practically skipped the whole description-writing part and left that to her. She also went around interviewing people (-.-”) in order to get more background info and stuff. We’ll come to that later…

Hot Air Balloon Ride for World Parkinson’s Day

I knew I was gonna volunteer for a charity event, but I didn’t know it was actually in conjunction with World Parkinson’s Day on Friday (11th April). Anyway, I picked Duncan up at his crib around 7 in the morning, and we headed straight to where the balloon was at.

Feel proud k, volunteer for charity!

Organized by the Malalysian Parkinson’s Association, the event was aimed at giving Parkinson’s disease sufferers an opportunity to go on a hot air balloon ride, at Astaka fields, PJ.

The Nokia Wireless Adventure II Race (Part 1)

The Nokia Wireless Adventure II race was fun. It really was. I remember how panicky it felt when we thought we couldn’t upload all our photos onto the website (via 3G) on time. Damn stress ok. Anyway, it’s over now and a very big congratulations to the winners, Suanie and Frankie who each won a trip for two to Hong Kong!

On top of that, they also get RM1500 bux for pocket money! And don’t forget that brand new Nokia N82 which was given to everyone the night before. I think it was a close race. Everyone was really good, and I believe that must’ve had given the judges a hard time determining the winner. I have lots of photos so I’ll do this in parts. First up, show you my roommate.

Holy schmoly!! I got through to be in the last 8, and with that I’ve won myself a new Nokia N82!! OMG ‘excited’ is an understatement!! I can’t sleep tonight liao…

I can’t believe that a little accident actually brought me this far. You see, I had accidentally clicked on the banner advertisement (thank God for advertisements? :p) at the bottom of my Windows Live Messenger, and the next thing I knew, my browser popped up with the Nokia N82 Wireless Adventure 2 website. Curiosity got the better of me, so I started clicking and stuff. The closing date was just the day after. I must have had an angel beside me at that time, because I’ve always hated slogans…

Sunburst KL International Music Festival 2008

I stood under the hot afternoon sun, ran in the rain, had my ass (almost) baked while taking shelter right next to a BBQ pit – all for the love of music. Twelve freaking hours of live music, at that. I was at the Sunburst KL International Music Festival in Bukit Kiara, last weekend.

When we arrived, the sky was still clear and there was good sunlight. We were made to stand outside the entrance while the officials checked bags and stuff. It was also clearly stated that no recording devices were permissible but it turned out that nobody actually gave a damn.

Quiksilver Revolution Tour 2.0 at Sunway Lagoon

The 2008 Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 at the Sunway Lagoon’s surf beach saw some of the world’s best boarding actions performed on and off beach, much to the enjoyment of the appreciative Malaysian youths who mostly turned up revealing more skin than they usually do on normal days. It was a wicked beach party!

To Round It Up…

We’re seconds away from a spanking brand new year and let me tell you, 2007 has been nothing short of rewarding as far as blogging is concerned. I made many new friends and saw many new faces – each has their own writing style and their own legion of readers. Best of all, it is gratifying to know that some of these people actually do recognize you and have at some point in time dropped by your blog before.

Yesterday I had one such opportunity (possibly the final one in 2007) – to go out and meet several fellow Malaysian bloggers at Pavilion KL. Esther told me that there would be a free AVP screening, and asked if I was interested. As a freeloader, I’m always up for anything that employs the ‘no-payment’ scheme. After the movie, I was thankful that the ticket was free because otherwise I’d have kicked myself for actually paying to watch it. Oh right, this post isn’t supposed to be about AVP…

Pikom PC Fair 2007, KLCC Convention Center

I can honestly tell you, Narrowband has lost his blogging steam (if you haven’t already noticed) – no thanks to heavy workload and off-working hours activities. I worked late on most days, and when I don’t, I head down to the gym. Jap classes are on Wednesdays, but I missed the payment deadline for the first group (whose classes commenced last week, and had *all* places filled up!!). Therefore mine will begin next week. Bummer!

Anyway, I’ve been out shopping during the weekends. Y’know it’s time to upgrade my wardrobe, now that a new year is coming soon. Besides, the sales is really something you can’t ignore. Hahaha. And so is the PC Fair, too…

Live & Loud KL 07: Acoustic

I left my office slightly early and even braced the pouring rain to get to the KL Convention Center for the acoustic installment of Live and Loud KL 2007 last Thursday. Dayang Nurfaizah, Rick Price and James Morrison were to perform that night – acoustic style. There is something about me and acoustic performances. I enjoy listening to clean, undistorted sounds of the acoustic guitar and piano.

It rained so heavily that evening but thankfully the traffic wasn’t that bad. The toughest hurdle I encountered was the floods. Water levels were so high that my car could easily pass as an amphibian vehicle. I once read that in order to prevent your car from breaking down in a flood, you gotta shift to low gear, keep the revs high and steadily drive through the water. I forgot why, but that’s what I did. I couldn’t risk missing the show. Of course lah, I paid for it mah!

Jacky Cheung World Tour 2007: Kuala Lumpur

In what may be his final world concert tour, Jacky Cheung put up a superb performance at the national stadium in Bukit Jalil last night. We were initially worried that he might not be able to perform because he canceled two concerts recently due to a bout of flu. As it turned out, he not only recovered in time, but also pumped in 110% into the 3-hour-plus concert.

This photo was snapped using my phone, and it’s probably the only clear photo taken during the concert as I didn’t bring along my camera. We were not supposed to bring one, anyway! One of the best features in the concert was the computer graphics displayed on the giant screen, as part of the stage’s backdrop. The picture was very clear and crisp, with occasional animations which blended very effectively with the music.
